Question Porsche information

Howdy,
I'm seriously considering a Porsche 911 (996). Does anyone know much about these cars? Maybe some information on what things are options on this model, that are a must to have. I'm searching the classified ads on Cars.com and AutoTrader.com

My budget is less than $40k and I'm thinking a convertible would be nice to have. Any comments or suggestions?

Default 99 models

99 models tend sometimes to have a main seal problem with the engine and tranny. It is sometimes evident in higher model cars. It was a problem addressed with some on warrenty work, but many were overlooked. Other than that Its a fine car.
