The news is not all good, however, by any means. Gas prices.....finally......are causing big SUV's to take a real hit, especially the truck-based ones that get such lousy mileage. You see evidence of this everywhere. Just last week my next-door neighbor traded his Lincoln Navigator for a new Grand Prix. I've always believed in people buying and driving the vehicle that is best for THEM and their specific needs....regardless of image or public pressure.......but even irrespective of the political correctness or incorrectness of the issue, ( and I won't get into that in this thread ) growing numbers of people are deciding they just cannot afford to keep feeding Big Bertha at $3-4 a gallon and getting mileage in the low teens....and I can't blame them. It is becoming more of an economic and budget issue than a political one.

The thing is, those folks never really needed that big SUV - they just got it as a fad. They'll discover that when they trade "down" to some sedan that it fits their needs just as well as that gas guzzling SUV they used to have. The problem for the big 3 is that this migration caused by milage worries is not only going to implode their SUV sales but their bottom line.

It seems to me that while sales are high, the 10K/mo sales of the 3 series might be gone for good and the TSX might just be one of the cars that is causing that. Seems like the TSX is one of the very few cars for which sales continue to climb long after the intro.

AUDI OF AMERICA REPORTS BEST SEPTEMBER IN HISTORY- UP 34.6 %

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. –– Audi of America, Inc. reported its best September sales month in history. With sales of 7,854 units, the German luxury brand’s numbers are up 34.6 % over September of 2004. Key drivers of this success are the A6 model range with 1,640 sales reported – up 211.2 % - and the A4 model line with 4,169 units, representing an increase of 19.7 %.

“The essence of our success are excellent products”, says Johan de Nysschen, Executive Vice President of Audi of America. “We have the youngest line-up of any luxury brand in the United States. The sales of our A4 and A6 models now reflect this”.

The new Audi A6 range had been introduced at the end of last year as a 6- and 8-cylinder sedan and is now complemented by the all-new Audi A6 Avant. The A4 model range was launched in spring of 2005 and is available in Sedan, Avant and Cabriolet derivatives featuring an unmatched range of 4-, 6- and 8-cylinder engines in front-wheel-drive or the renowned quatttro® all-wheel-drive.

Year-to-date, Audi of America has sold 59,656 cars, up a healthy 4.1 percent over the same period in 2004.

I still can't believe how many people are willing to spend their hard-earned cash on 2 unreliable, overpriced, and overrated german midsize sedans. Who wouldn't want a GS or M instead?
it must be the name

Good info but I think the LS belongs with the entry level sedans like the CTS, TL, G35....

Has WV made an announcement to kill the Phaeton?

Dunno about Phaeton, but I meant the LS430, not Lincoln's LS.

Not quite 2500, but has been >2000 since Jan. Here's an earlier post of mine:

Thanks guys, I appreciate the kind words.

Just a little something for I noticed not to long ago....

Tacoma - 14,632
Ranger - 10,105
Dakota - 8,921
Colorado - 7,648
Frontier - 6,535
Canyon - 2,254

Its up for the year, and actually was selling better than the rest last year as well. Thats something I never noticed before, but its well deserved. Good job Toyota on building a truely remarkable pickup.

The Tacoma has always been a success for Toyota. I jsut never knew it was class leading in sales. Just goes to show you how Toyota is taking the truck market very seriously. Hopefully if Toyota can get fuel economy right with the Tundra(on all models, not just Hybrdi models), then Toyota will have a run away sucess. AGAIN!!!

^^^
I had no idea of the Tacoma's success...wow. I remember back when the Tacoma was first introduced, and now to see it leading the pack--is a sign of how far Toyota has come.
