Default Near-lux, mid-lux, and high-lux sales comparisons

Based on the monthly sales threads, and for my post whoring and your debating pleasure, here's my contribution... (Someone else can format the numbers if they want.)

Some of you may not agree with my placing of certain models into the different near, mid, and high lux groups, but my argument for that is size concerns, for the most part. I also took into account pricing and magazine comparo groupings.

i swear my dad predicted the Infiniti M situation; they'd sell in the very beginning and then flop.

Well, typically new models sell better in the beginning than after a few months, but I'd hardly call sales a flop yet.

Why do you say that? The sales don't seem to be decreasing from the numbers posted other than a little dip in May that was more than made up for in June?

Damn even in its last year(maybe second to last year) the LS430 is still outselling its main competition by 1,000 units. Pretty damn impressive.

Ummm....atleast there are people actually buying the Phateon about 70 per month. Still pretty bad, but what can ya do.

That CTS came out of no where last month. Nevermind, GM Employee Discount. I forgot.

So the new IS should be about mid-pack in that class, just under the C-class.

Yes, the new IS probably can't do much better than that without coupe & convertible versions like the 3 series.

BTW, I don't think some of the lists are valid comparisons between the brands because the sedan/coupe/convertible sales are lumped together & some brands do not offer the coupe/convertible versions.

I guess I could have separated out the sedans, but then some could argue that people may have purchased a 325i if the 325Ci weren't available, etc.

That could be possible in "some " cases, but without a 325ci, that person could have gone with a G35 coupe, but can't get a Lexus IS coupe since it does not exist.
If offering more variations won't increase overall sales substantially, why do you think the manufacturers would spend more to make more variations ? Making just one model will be economically more efficient than different variations if sales will remain the same or even close with just one.

Me for example, I' d never have bought a G35 sedan if the G35 coupe does not exist.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the LS sell >3500 when the new model comes out.

The LS430 had sold 3000+ per month for some months last year even with the 2004 MY facelift/upgrades.
