yup, definitely way back, but it's all cool. we all help each other out and it's always fun talking about cars. i think that's the true meaning of enthusiasts. don't scare about talking what you like and don't like, but also talk about good and bad experience

hopefully you are going to mod the ls430 nice, and show us pics

You know a lot of comments about bimmers bring out the worst in the people here, and I may be just as guilty of the next guy. But please don't let the flaming obscure the message. I had five bimmers and loved driving them but after a while, the reliability and maintenance just became too much. I have thought about going back to the dark side but I have to tell you I definitely do not think current bimmers have the sweet combination of ride and handling that the generations I had (late 80s and 90s), maybe it is the run flats and maybe I would rather have a root canal than get into i drive, but when you combine that with the maintenance, I think they have lost me forever. You can still have problems with a Lexus and frankly Lexus is still playing catchup to the Europeans for ride/handling but tens of thousands of miles with absolutely nothing going wrong is tough to give up. Reliability is only an issue if you don't have it. I hope the Lexus lives up to your expectations and that it is a long time before you get bored which is the biggest problem with Lexus. They just don't change from the first day. I am waiting for the next gen LS as well but gas prices are starting to be on my mind. Maybe more than they should.

welcome back. sorry to hear that your experience with the bim was not too good. Even though I've heard all the bim bashing and such but it is still not cool to hear such stories. I really wish the'd fix their issues. i feel bad for all the owners of these exquisite pieces of machinery.

GS asked a question that i didn't answer b/c my original post was brief. 1st off, the bimmer handles incredible. sort of like driving a hooked up civic. it takes corners like no other, it accelerates a tad bit faster than the LS. it may even have more HP than the LS. seating is great and very comfortable but it leaves no room for the back seat unlike the LS. the i-drive was a pain to find an address which left me angry at times. the lexus has the nice "mark" or you can actually touch the screen to adjust, practical. the lexus's exterior seems fragile compared to the exterior of the bimmer. the voice activation in the bimmer was pretty annoying at times, for example "CD #5" it replies w/ "record voice note", it gets to you after a while. I loved the engine, just didnt like the way the engine started to sound. there's many of you guys here that know about cars, i don't. i just know when a car dosent sound right at 18k it's not going to sound right at 30k, so i got rid of it while i still had equity. maybe the 750 has less problems. i enjoyed the outcome of the invoice($0) when i went to bmw, but i didnt like the frequencies that i may have needed to be there. all in all, i would pick a bimmer over a benz, but never a lexus.
any questions ask away..

I'm still buying a 7'er in a few years after BMW finishes recalling whatever goes wrong.

Bimmers.....or any car for that matter.......can't bring out the worst in people if that " worst " isn't there to start with.

Now...you really want to see a car that brings out the worst and makes aggressive drivers..........................the Mustang GT / Cobra.

either way, my LS even though i feel extreme body roll when i drive, it sounds like its off. I can't help but be happy about the headlights moving ahead when i make a turn
You can fix that body roll with some teins and a fat set up of 19's.
BTW...welcome back. I think you did the right thing. Experience is a better teacher than anything else. It's permanent. Next time you get an urge to change brands, you'll get that kick that says NO WAY!!!
