I swear to the God Posieden or hell Zeus, that when I logged into here from LExfest, I thought it was www.carlosghosenisgod.com the way these nissan threads pop up.
This is old news. We know. In Zeus's name, after 13 years of crap and you win a couple awards and you would think man created electricity the way the fanboys pop in.
Its a good car, good for Nissan
Zeus forgive us if we say something negative about this company

I was thinking the same thing! I'm starting to see more Nissan/Infiniti threads than Lexus threads at ClubLexus.com

As long as the threads are in Car Chat, it is not a big deal. That IS where ANY car can be discussed.

Almost more annoying than poor mileage would be a small gas tank. Luckily, the M's have a 20 gallon tank, so the frequency of fillups is lessened.
(For what it is worth, I am loving the pics and specs I have seen on the new IS. And, the IS coupe pic I saw yesterday is simply gorgeous. I just wish my 3 year old was about 14 years older, so I could buy him one and borrow it periodically)
OK, LOCK THIS THREAD DOWN - TROUBLE AHEAD.

. There is no reason though, for multiple NIssan threads on CLUBLEXUS, espcially dealing with the same Nissan. So they are merged.
I didn't even comment BECAUSE I AM BUSY DEALING WITH LEXFEST RIGHT NOW!!!!!
So my comments. I think it asinine for anyone to complain about the poor gas mileage in this NIssan and most any luxury car. Why?
1. The VQ and the V-8 are GREAT engines with GREAT power. So they WILL have less gas mileage.
2. They are matched to primitive 5 speed transmissions, so of course the mileage will be slower.
3. THis is the same company ran by a man who dismissed hybrids 2 years ago. Now they are buying the OLD Toyota Hyrbid tech. Fuel economy is not their bag baby.
4. These new Nissans are fun to drive and the gearing is aggresive. YOU WANT to drive and speed in them, thus lower gas mileage.
5. Its a luxury car. Luxury cars have less gas mileage than most cars. If you buy a luxury car, you should have money for gas.
Toyota takes a TOTAL approach to things. THus the higher hp ratings and higher gas mileage. THus UNLEV I and II ratings. Thus the hyrbid Prius/RX and upcoming Highlander, Camry, GS 450h etc.
NIssan IS NOT about fuel economy. IF you read the news about fuel economy, its about 2 main companies, HONDA and TOYOTA.
I mean, the car is winning tons of comparisons for being sporty and being driven hard. OF COURSE gas mileage will be low.

You know as much as i hate the M vs GS threads ON CLUBLEXUS.com! ones gotta admit the Infiniti had a very successful launch with thier M model (from the critics perspective anyway). I mean before the G35's (which i think are awsome cars) infinit still was suffering but what a nice turn around for the last cpl of years.

Consumer Reports magazine calls the sporty car from Nissan a "surprise."

DETROIT (Reuters) - The sporty Infiniti M35 powered past its competitors to become what Consumer Reports, a leading source of information for U.S. car buyers, says is the best luxury sedan on the road today.
The "excellent" overall rating for the car from the luxury division of Nissan Motor Co. Ltd. is reported in the September issue of the magazine, which goes on sale Tuesday.
The Infiniti M35 was tested against four other models and each, as equipped, was priced at roughly $50,000. The other models were the redesigned Audi A6, the Cadillac STS, Acura RL and Lexus GS300.
"The surprise of this test group is the M35, which is now our top-rated (luxury) sedan. It even outscores all of our tested full-size premium luxury sedans," Consumer Reports says.
"This well-rounded car has a ride and handling suited for twisty roads as well as the boulevard," it adds, saying the car's many attributes include a powerful 280-horsepower V-6 engine, a roomy, well-finished interior and controls that are mostly user-friendly.
A 335-horsepower, V-8 power plant is an available option on the M35.
The A6 from Audi, a unit of Volkswagen AG, also got an "excellent" overall score from Consumer Reports. But it was faulted for "nonintuitive controls," its lack of an in-dash CD slot and unknown reliability. The previous A6 was not reliable, according to Consumer Reports.
Of the five vehicles tested, Consumer Reports said all but the Cadillac STS, from General Motors Corp., and the Audi A6 warranted inclusion on its closely watched "recommended" list.
Consumer Reports said the reliability of the STS, which replaces Cadillac's Seville sedan, was still unknown. It praised many aspects of the car, but said the material quality of its interior was "not as luxurious as the leaders in the class."
The Infiniti M35 replaces the Lexus LS430 -- which sells for about $70,000 -- as Consumer Reports' top-rated luxury sedan.
The magazine said the GS300, from Toyota Motor Corp.'s luxury division, was refined and expected to be quite reliable. But it added that the car's steering lacks feel, passenger room is tight, and it is not an agile vehicle.
"It's not the luxury sport sedan Lexus pitches; we didn't find it particularly exciting to drive," Consumer Reports said.
Of the Acura RL, the latest offering from the luxury arm of Honda Motor Co. Ltd., the magazine complained that it was not particularly sporty to drive. It also said the RL was no roomier than the Acura TL, which costs about $16,000 less.

The M is selling well and is proving to be quite a competitor this time around. The FM platform cannot do much wrong!
I measured an M45 for wheels today. Was somewhat shocked by the mediocre paint quality (orange peel, it was a black car)... the interior is interesting (except for the matte-finished wood, looks pretty bogus), and I think I would tire of the unique dash style and strange dash lighting. I am already bored with the exterior style. Just doesn't do it for me.
I'd be interested to see the sales figures for the M versus the GS. I see more new GSs on the road...

the M is a great conservative design. Nissan did their homework and designed a basic shaped that is SAFE, they didn't go out on a limb w/ this design...and it's selling because the shape is something that people are used to seeing. Plus throw in a lot of the gizmos and price it under its competitors and you have a good combination. I see a lot of these on the road so they must be doing it right...hats off to them...i was really disappointed that this thing is mated to a 6spd though.
We'll see how the chips fall as they say...

A couple of years ago, I read a post that said, if you don't like the topic, don't open it. If you open by mistake and don't like it, leave it. That was said by a member here on CL. It helped me a lot about some of the weird or aggravating threads. They may not be aggravating to someone else. That's for everyone tired of seeing M45 subjects, don't read them. Don't comment. There's nothing sitting on your shoulder saying, read it...hate it...tell everyone you hate it.
As for the M, I definitely like it. The styling could be a little better but so could the GS and SC430, both bubble looking cars. The M45 is sleeker and as everyone agrees, is sportier. So far, nothing has caused me to dislike any Lexus to the point I couldn't own one...even the SC430. As bulbous as it is, I still think it's a sweet car. Loving Lexus shouldn't keep me from liking other car brands or admitting another car is better.
I just left the dealership. The service rep told me 20% of new Lexus owners hate the new trannies...they can't get used to the car trying to think for you. That alone puts the M45 over the GS for me. I don't want my car making the decisions for me. I have enough of that already in my life...the government, my boss, my wife...oops, don't tell her I said this.
