Wow, that's pretty good mileage for the 430. I've got about 2000 miles on the ODO and the best I've done is 21mpg and that was w/ mostly highway driving. Overall, I seem to be getting about 18mpg. I hope my mileage improves after the 1st oil change and once the engine is broken in a little more.

To further prove my love of Lexus and the GS, I am currently in search of wheels for winter use that look like the 2006 GS430. I love your wheels GS430 owners!

That was an issue for me with Infiniti and the M. If you get the Sport M (35 or 45) you have to get summer tires, with no option for all-seasons. I was really unhappy about this lack of options. While it is not Buffalo, Philly does get a winter, and I would have preferred just using all seasons year round.

Or you could've gotten the GS3 22/30 mpg According to the cluster display, we're averaging 24 mpg with a little less than 1K on the clock

The M situation is more of a surprise, given what Infiniti rates the MPG at. (I think 17-23 for the M45) While I am in that range, I drive a lot of highway miles and expect to be over 20 MPG.

Marc, I had the Infiniti FX35 AWD before I got my 06 GS300. I got 23 mpg on the highway with the FX. I loved that vehicle, and I would own another one, but I ws ready to get back into a car.

The M35 may be the Best Sport-Luxury Sedan, but definitely not in the same league as the LS430 as the Best Luxury Sedan. M35's edge is all in the sport part. CR needs to get this straight.

I'm not 100% sure but the M45 uses a 5 speed, right? Is Infiniti planning on a 6-speed anytime soon? WIth a little changing of ratios and an extra gear, I think it'd be very feasible to get pretty decent highway mileage.... at least 23-24 without hurting lower end acceleration too much.

In lieu of all the bilater infiniti-lexus bashing thats been going on, I propose a Lexus-Infiniti truce bbq! If the bloods and crips have been able to do it in certain cities, so can we

Exciting to drive? For some reason this sounds strange coming from CR

Some Nissan "official" did say that a 6 speed auto was in development. Who knows when it'll be available though.

Congrats!

I never expected that!

As for the LS' demotion: I think the LS needs some Major changes SOON!! While I think it is awesome, it is just falling behind I think. The new body style better be coming ( iknow it is, but when?).

Fall of 2006 as a 07 model is a pretty good guess . . .
Yes, the LS430 is a great car, but is long in the tooth, does not have some of the newest that the just released models have .

Gah.. I don't trust CR with cars. Their reliability reports are inconsistant with those of JD Power. They've rated Lincoln and Cadillac as having "poor" reliablity (last year) when both manufacturers were within the top 5.
