Default where you change your oil?

question, I don't change my own oil cause I live in a building, so I have to go out and get it done. Now the Lexus has been serviced at dealership since day one the previous owner bought it new. So I figure I'd do the same, now the local Lexus dealership charges $100 Cdn for an oil change, good thing is they vaccum the car , wash it, but I start to think $100Cdn for an oil change is quite a bit to be honest, even know I get to sit in their plush lounge and what not. So where do you take your cars for oil change?

my parents take their cars to the toyota dealerships where they bought them, I take my Volvo to a KIA dealership where my buddy works as a mech.

If your buddy knows your car, take it to him.

Otherwise Toyota won't charge you as much as Lexus and, unless they are like my Toyota dealer, they should know what they are doing.

I just take it to the Toyota dealer. Call Service at Erin Mills Toyota. Ask to speak to the workshop supervisor - Desmond (he's my buddy) and then schedule the oil change with him. It will be cheaper than taking it to Lexus. I brought in my own filter and Mobil 1 oil and he charged me $50.00 to do the oil change.

Or you could just ask him to buy everything and find out what the cost would be for parts plus labour. Tell him I sent you.

I go to Jiffy Lube because they have the set-up where they go under the floor which is nice b/c I have a body kit and can't often get on ramps etc.

For $30 they replce oil filter and change my oil. I bring my own Valvoline Synthetic Oil b/c I get it for free from Valvoline ( I have a deal with them) and they change it. All in all I think its a reasonable price.

I wouldn't recommend Jiffy Lube (or any other type of shop like that) to anyone. I had a friend that worked at one, and if you heard some of the (often illegal) stuff they did there you'd be afraid to even drive by it. If you can't do it yourself then I'd suggest a dealership or a trusted independant mechanic... that's it.
