Default Lexus BS...literally!

BS. A 1-Series fighter based on a shortened IS platform. Wonder how much truth there is to the rumor. Doesn't look bad in the artist renderings actually. Could prove to be popular outside the US.

Translation by Google (better than no translation after all):

Lexus plans BMW 1er-Konkurrenten

Toyotas luxury brand Lexus wants to develop the model offer downward with a compact car. Therefore a four-door diagonal tail sedan with rear-wheel drive on shortened IS platform is considered.

Since all Topmarken expands downward, there are also with Lexus considerations to a new basis model in the compact class. Model is the space concept of Mercedes with A less here and UC-lets, but the sporty Riege around BMW with the 1er and AUDI with the A3 sport-bake.

Planned a Sporthatch of compact cars mentioned is internal. It could the contraction BS carry and is on the shortened platform of the new IS be based, which would mean as with the 1er-BMW rear-wheel drive.

The BS is laid out as Viertuerer with Hecklappe, whereby the grasps for the two fondtueren are integrated as with Alfa Romeo like that in the frameworks that the car works at first sight coupéhaft like a Zweituerer. The Lexus Sporthatch might replace the IS sport CROSS of the old generation, which never created the break-through.

As engines Vierzylinder Benziner and turbo-Diesel as well as a Otto-V6 are intended - in each case coupled at six-course switching or automatic transmission. All-wheel drive should be later just as available as a hybrid version than top model. Earliest introduction date: At the end of of 2008.

Should do better than the SportCross if it came to fruition.

"Lexus BS 250" what to compete with Mercedes B-class? Or A-class?

I think "Lexus IH" for hatchback, or...

I'm still curious how they'll name the IS coupe...perhaps IS 350c?

when i look at the back , i think of a dodge magnum, and the wheels from the second picture remind me of some other automaker's wheel design, but i think that look is kinda common

Wink

It will do well in Canada as an Audi A3 fighter. Not a bad idea from a Canadian perspective.

Lexus is trying to move upscale, not a good idea to build A3 fighter. Audi, BMW and Mercs wants to move downscale cuz they need more vehicles to increase their profits so Toyota's hugh cash reserves won't crush them. The reason new IS is more upscale and less boyracer like last gen should confirm that those picts above is pure BS.

If Lexus wants to increase market share in Europe this might just be the thing!
