Default Ticket for 86 in a 55

Hey,

My friend just got a ticket for doing 86 in a 55mph zone and doesnt know what to do. The ticket is $650 and 6 points all together. He got two seperate tickets, one for not putting on his blinker while he was changing lanes and the 86 in a 55. Should he find a Ticketclinic or a traffic lawyer or should he show up to court or whatever . Im asking you guys bc i know how smart you guys are .

Thanks

i would probably just get an attorney if he doesn't know what to do. i have no idea where you are and what 6 points mean to you, but here in cali, that means the license is gone already

and just for the record, 86 in 55, that 31mph over limit. technically here in cali he could have been put in jail and car impounded

Get a attorney....a good one. In California it could have been a misdemeaner. This is pretty serious. Also his insurance will skyrocket.

I would say just pay the ticket and try to do some traffic school.

Never get an attorney for a traffic ticket unless you injure or kill someone. Pay the fine and go to traffic school. Trust Me

why is that?

the attorney will really help out no matter how serious the situation...

i got a ticket for not yeilding to oncoming traffic while making a left turn... 3 points $150.

lawyer said some weird stuff like the bushes on the left side of the vehicle hindered the driver's ability to see oncoming traffic therefore causing poor judgment of the turn blah blah blah...

judge was like " alright thanks bernard. You may leave now Mr. Kim."

hahaha twas awesome...

but in your friend's case, it's going to be much more serious because its 31 mph over the speed limit... really reckless driving... in philly 6 points means license gone and you really can't argue off the speeding ticket because there is no mistake there... it's simple recklessness.

but get an attorney and find out what your options are and do whatever he can do to lower the points, community service, traffic school etc.

he's going to have to pay the fine... he might be able to get it lowered but he's going to have to pay a ticket in that ballpark.

Yea, I'm not sure how things work where you live... but you're not always eligible for the driving class option in Illinois. Especially if you were going 31 over the speed limit... thats wreckless driving in many states. In Missouri, especially, you ALWAYS get an attorney to fix tickets. Some attorneys make a living off doing that purely. You can even get off of a DUI for about $5,000 (fee to the attorney, additional fees to the court).

I'd highly suggest your buddy get a lawyer. Since this was such a big ticket, he may not be able to make it go away completely, but chances are the lawyer will be able to play down the offense to a lesser one. You don't want a ticket like that on your record, your insurance will be very high for a long time.

you recieve a certain number of points depending on how serious whatever it is that you did.

i think in most states the max number of points a license can receive is 6 points.

Brian, this point system hasn't made it to all of the states yet. I didn't know about it either till a few years ago when I went to college and met someone from Michigan. I had of course met people from other states before that, but the topic of drivers licenses never really came up
