"Members of the popular website VWvortex.com were probably stunned to learn last month that one of the forum’s contributors was actually Volkswagen of America chief Len Hunt. A thread dealing with why some VW faithful are leaving the brand sparked a debate that led the exec to speak up on behalf of his brand. His action marks the first time an auto exec has contributed to an independent forum. In a move that demonstrates the power of forums.

This article suggests that the big wigs are certainly eavesdropping on the comments you all post. Kind of makes you wonder if they’re listening right now… Hello?"

Wonder who from lexus is reading this forum

maybe this belongs in carchat.

We definitely do have folks from Lexus and Toyota reading this forum. Most of the 'active participants' are from local dealers however.

Here's the thread from VWvortex where he jumps in

That's so crazy!!! I've been a member of vwvortex.com since when it first started back in 98. I was one of the original OGs there! Well, if you think about it, the vwvortex.com guys could easily amass over 32,000 vw vehicles if they want to. The bigwigs better be listening....

I added my 2 cents somewhere in that thread. Basically I said " as a happy Lexus owner, there is pretty much no reason to go to VW, they are not luxury cars no matter what you think and the quality is the EXACT OPPOSITE". Why would we switch? There is no convincing arguement.

i wonder if Jim Press is ever on here..

he was recently "inaugurated" as President of Toyota Motor Sales in Torrance.
my friend happens to coach his daughter on her swim team...
and he comes down at 5 in the morning to get his morning exercise.

we should all go down there with a banner

"Visit ClubLexus.com"

and buy him breakfast.

yes yes you are an OG.

were you on the VR6 mailling list? I think it was you that on the mailling list talked about the turbo kit (I forgot which company) back then, your car was seriously ahead of the time.

Thumbs down Lame

I hate it when execs issue statements like this:

Thanks, Vortexers, for this subject which I obviously find very important. Our challenge seems to be a combination of quality and exciting vehicles. I can tell you all that we are listening to your views, and I personally take them with me on my many trips to the factory in Wolfsburg. I'm so excited about cars like the new Jetta, Passat, GTI and Golf which truly are VW's and, more importantly, a great "Driver's Wanted" statement for the brand.
Keep sending the comments; I'm listening.

Len Hunt
Executive Vice President, Volkswagen of America, Inc.
That's what was posted on the VWVortex forum by Mr. Hunt.

Honestly - to say "the new Jetta, Passat, GTI and Golf ... truly are VW's" is just unacceptable.

What's that supposed to mean? It reads to me something like: "In our opinion, we've managed to create and offer a few vehicles which aren't complete bastardizations of the brand!"

Like that's something to be proud of.

Please.

The Jetta is trash. Trash trash trash. So lame. My blood pressure shoots up just thinking about what it was and what it is now.

True driver's car my ****.

M.

Yes I was like the first 10 people that made up the original population of the VR6 mailing list. I was also 2nd person (after Dimitri) who had a turbo kitted VR6 in the midwest. The turbo kit on my car was custom and had no name, because at the time everyone was still using an AMS supercharger and no one thought it would be possible to turbo a VR6. Ahh, the good old days...
