Personally, I think a convertible version will look good as well. I love the look of the current e46 M3 convertible.

Let me get this straight - just because the M6 cab will be 2 miles slower in the certain corners than coupe and will only pull 72mph instead of 74mph for example then its a bad idea?
Well 911 cab doesn't sound to me like a bad idea, same with Lotus Elise.

If I were to get a Porsche or Bimmer , I want the best handling/performance I can get , that's the main reason for choosing their brands AFAIC , so I will always opt for the coupe. For a cruiser with open top style & fun, I will just get a SC or SL. That's my preference only, to me it's not a good idea, others may think differently.

I agree with you but my point is that a regular driver, even a good driver won't be able to tell the difference in handling between 911 cab or coupe for example. Probably the track times will show the difference, but hey how many m6 owners will take their cars to track - 5%? may be 6?

That's true, but I think many drivers pick the cars they buy because of how they feel about the car more than their actual performance. Why do people buy an AMG rather than the regular version if they don't go to the track or drag strip, even a E500 or SL500 you can seldom put their power to full use during most regular driving, when you can just order the AMG package & makes them look about the same & save a bunch. Honestly, many of the AMG's I saw on the road are driven by older man or ladies who drives them in the slow lane.
For the same reason, maybe getting the M6 or 911 coupe rather than the convertible makes me feel like I am driving the best performing/handling model I can get from the brand which are renowned for these attributes.
Anyway, that's just me, if people will buy these in convertible form in significany #'s, then the manufacturer should offer them, just that i never like the looks of the 911 convertible anyway(I think I' ve mentioned this here before several times) , & i also prefer the looks of the 6 series in coupe form more.

ID get the M6, simply because it reminds me of what theoritcally the older SC coupes could of have been!

The AMG 65 CL are solid 11 second rides, a full second faster then the M6, but it seems to me that the M6 is the better balanced vehicle of the 2.

As Sexy stated, I actually like it too.

I haven't read any reviews yet but I have no doubt its getting rave reviews. Even the M5 is getting rave reviews so I would expect the M6 to simply be an outstanding car. (well, aside from reliability
