Damn. What a shame. And I really really love this car. But despite its problems, I still have a strong passion for this car. Its such a great vehicle.

Wow Mike, another informative post. Thanks.

PS - I notice you never seem to be the first to post things like the Avalon recall?

This recall is exactly what members here praise Toyota for doing. Preventative recall. Notice it is not really a design flaw but a loose terminal. Obviously any of the main terminals came loose on any car it will result in the same thing. No accidents were reported so that is aslo a good thing. I'm glad Acura is issuing recalls before anything major happens. I see this in the same light as Toyota doing a recall on the Pruis for stalled engines, or the RX330 recall for the brake booster failure. All preventative measures to keep the public safe.

Yes, prompt preventive recalls are always a good move

Something I wish Ford would learn.

The issues I am having with a Focus in the family are nothing short of EMBARASSING. This car is a real black eye for Ford. Articles are all over the net and it's infuriating what owners are dealing with.

Hardly.

More to avoid the sort of suits that had Chrysler reeling a few years back due to their minivan doors shooting open in a crash. Plenty of dead children make the settlements go round.

Toyota and Honda are just avoiding chargrilled children lawsuits and bad PR. Nothing altruistic here - just good business.

I see your point. Either way, the end result potentially saves lives though. It can also save them from the lawsuits if those lives were lost. Whatever the motivating reason it's good for public safety in the end.
