Default Funny. Intake n Exhaust = 50hp gain??

My buddy who drives a stock 4 cylinder Accord is convinced that by adding a "big intake" and exhaust he would gain 50hp!!! He said that the guy who works at the Super Autobacs store told em so - 10 from the intake and 40 from the exhaust. LOL

I don't know how restrictive OEM Honda 4 cyl stuff is... but I'd feel safe betting him $20 per hp in some sort of scheme. Under 25 he pays you for every HP, over 25 you pay him.

I think whoever is tellin this is dumb. Id totally bet em on a dyno run if I can. I really doubt it that u can even gain that much on turbod cars such as the Sti or EVO with just an exhaust and intake

Maybe I should ask em what brand exhaust and intake hes gonna get. Maybe wed able to extract an extra 60+ hp out of our 2jzge. We got a liter and an extra cam over him.

Honda's I think have some of the most free-flowing exhaust already. I used to own a 92 accord and people that did put an exhaust on and dyno'ed it, would gain 2-5hp at the most. And I think some of those people removed cats too lol

Your friend does not know performance cars does he? I heard ebay has a great performance section including Cyclone drop in filter mods and "chips" that give no details. I will bet him Dave's bet if he fulll heartedly believe this. PM me if he's down I can use some more cash.

Yeah, the $4 radio shack resistor "chip"
Wouldn't a dyno run be cheaper than intake and exhaust? I don't know the price, just wondering.

To make it even more amusing. He thinks he can beat an SC300 with that intake n exhaust. Its a 97 Accord btw I think.

If anyone has been to Super Autobacs USA... you know it's a joke. The only 'enthusiasts' I saw were probably the tire guys... but they seemed like ricers to me =D

I think Stanton isn't a very 'prime' location for them... it's not in the epi-center hahaha... they should have opened up in San Gabriel or Rosemead or anywhere in the 626 area in general. Then they'd get some enthusiasts working there instead of the high school/college kids that just needed a minimum wage job.
