Calm down there, sparky. You have to remember that this is a LUXURY car forum and we're all biased, at least to a certain degree. Do you really expect people on this forum to look at those pics and say to themselves, "WOW! I want to make my LEXUS look like that car!"??? Ricer show vehicles that actually win awards are the ones that are done somewhat tastefully (no 6' rear spoiler, etc). Oh, and I think that you have a pretty wierd definition of "ball-less". It would be pretty funny to see who has the bigger ***** when a riced-out 4-banger Civic (or similar) pulls up to a stop light next to a modded GS, SC, IS, or hell, even my ES. I guess it just comes down to the fact that WE ARE ALL ENTITLED TO OUR OWN OPINIONS, whether good or bad.

 

I don't know, maybe that might just be an Omaha Nebraska thing, but not everyone automatically becomes biased just cuz they're on a luxury car forum.

YES!! It's already been done, Checkout the LS400 on page two of this thread. I should warn you tho, it might be a good idea to take a good shot of whiskey first. The image maybe a little too "ballzy" for you.

So how does having a award winning tastefully done show car equal rice? And how does import car shows that feature majority asian makes considered ricer show? Are you saying that all asian vehicles are automatically riced? Or is it because the majority of show attendees are asians? Would you consider the annual "Supra meets" a ricer meet since just about all those MKIV Supras have wings that looked to be 6ft tall also? Is Toyota a Ricer manufacturer for putting that tall wing and altezza tailights as standard item on the MKIV SupraTT and IS300? How about Mitsubishi's 4bangin EVO8? Stock, that car smokes any modified Lexus I know of in the handling department and outguns all stock lexus V8s in a drag race, yet looks like those vehicles you've considered riced.

Are you saying that you're going to pullout your ***** and have a size contest whenever you see a riced-out 4-banger Civic (or similar) pull up on you at a stop light? In that case, I will have to proclaim you the winner. Just be sure to hide those oversize ***** when the cops throw you in jail. You wouldn't want the wrong people checking out your assets while waiting for bail.

If the opinion is bad and you know it, why post it? But if you didn't know or didn't think it's bad like those enthusiast with the 6ft wings, expect people to tear you a new hole like y'all like to consistantly do to those owners.

BTW, we're all not entitled to our opinions, it's an over exaggerated american mantra. You'll get thrown in jail for talking about ***** in Chinese forums or get tortured by Saddam when he was still the man in charged. So don't take it for granted by expressing bad opinions.

 

Not sure if anyone thought this up before but this just hit me, now what happend if lets say one of those cars with the 4 foot front spoilers caught on fire, then wouldn't you have some "FRIED RICE?" I just had to come up with that one after It hit me, or someone already did that one?

 

Wow, 2 whole pages before someone starts up the whole “ricer term ethics and definition” debate. It's a new CL record.

But to focus on the cars... Its crazy how crazy the mods on the retro racers are. It would be pretty cool to have one of those old cars but they all have the same god awful exhaust and the same rims, its a shame.

 

Celicamaro - you need to take it easy man. CL is not your average car mod site. Most members treat each other with respect here & take pride with having clean, classy & understated cars, and we do appreciate many other cars than just Lexus. The cars being ridiculed are the exact opposite of what CL stands for!!

 

You guys do know that these cars are typically modded to join the "uphill race" battles that are so common? They need that crazy front lip for aerodynamics and the wide stance so they won't fall off the cliffs.....

 

..and if it falls off the cliff it can fly down like a paper airplane for a smooth landing

Celicamaro, you are doing absolutely nothing to better the impression of yourself here. Especially since you are new to the forums.

 

If this is what you think, then you are just as guilty as the members you are "debating" with. They may think your opinions are "bad" and should not be voiced. Ricer is a sensitive term for some people and just another word for others. We should all be a bit more sensitive to what we say on a forum with 30K+ members and who knows how many other readers/lurkers.

If you guys want to continue your "discussion", please take it to PM and stop this line of discussion in this thread.

Taste is another thing that is subjective. Everyone's tastes are different. I personally do not like the the mods on these cars and would never do this to any of my cars. Hey, but that's just me. It is perfectly within my rights to say that I do not find these cars tastefully modded. It is anyone else's right to say that these are cool. But, please leave it at that and not start to call eachother out.

Celicamaro, please take some time to see what CL is about. Anyone is welcomed here as it is a great place for info. The majority of the members here, however, believe in a certain level of modding and the pics in this thread are not typical of this styling. For better or worse, that is the way it is. I don't even think you object to this, but maybe are tired of people throwing the "ricer" word around. You've had your say about this so please move on. If you don't like what is being discussed in this thread, you can always ignore the thread. There is so much more going on here on CL that there is no need to focus on this thread.

As for everyone else, feel free to discuss the merits (or lack thereof) of these cars but please refrain from tagging them with the R word. Any further escalation of the issue will warrant a closure of the thread.

btw. is it true about the uphill races? i never knew that. it doesn't change the fact that the lip is that freaking huge but hey, if they need it to go racing up a hill, go for it !

i like that one picture of the 06/07? LS430. I think it's pretty hotness.

I thought CL wasn't your average forum also. That's why I like it here. Now I see several members and a moderator jumping on me trying to tell me to take it easy when I'm not even hot yet. These views are proving CL to be no different than lets say ricecop.com or most domestics forums. But I won't jump to that conclusion about CL as a whole since they members are in the minority.

This doesn't make sense. If we appreciate many other cars other than just lexus, then why ridiculed others for being different than us? I know for a fact that many here wouldn't like it if others take cheap shots at Lexus styling or it's members clean, classy and understated cars. I'm already seen as a threat just for pointing that out. No offense, but this sounds like a double standard.
