Porsche record sales in Middle East


Stuttgart. With a 20 per cent growth in 2010, Porsche Middle East and Africa, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, impressively underlines the great commitment of the company to this region.

In 2010, a total of 6,842 vehicles (5,694 in the previous year) were delivered to Middle East and Africa, more than ever before. "We are back on the fast track. Like no other car manufacturer Porsche is a symbol for faszinating sports cars and ‘Intelligent Performance'. Our importers' dedicated commitment contributed to further strengthen the customers' trust in the Porsche brand," explains Bernhard Maier, board member for sales and marketing, at the Qatar Motor Show on occasion of the pesentation of the limited Panamera 4S Exclusive Middle East Edition.

The most popular model in the entire region has been the Porsche Cayenne which accounted for over 50 per cent of all vehicles sold, just under 3,600 units last year. And most of all, it is the new generation of the sporty off-roader which thrills the customers. The second most popular car is the Porsche Panamera whose sales of around 1,900 vehicles were nearly three times as high as in the previous year. This means that just under 30 per cent of the Porsche customers opted for a Panamera model. About 20 per cent decided to buy a 911, Boxster or Cayman.

2011 Porsche Panamera 4S Sport Design – new goodies for the luxury sedan

Porsche Panamera was launched a year ago and since then it has more than 23 000 global sales. The car combines the appeal of a sports car and functionality of four-seater. Furthermore, there are recently-introduced V6-engined Panamera and Panamera 4, which is powered by a new 300HP six-cylinder engine.
The company will put on sale a new Powerkit, which raises the maximum output of Panamera Turbo from 500 to 540HP and the torque from 700 to 750Nm and ever over 800Nm in the over-boost mode. The Powerkit includes two new turbochargers with titanium-alloy turbine wheels. The ECU has been adapted accordingly and the result is an appreciable further improvement in the engine’s responsiveness.
The updated Porsche Panamera Turbo accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in 3.9 sec (0.1 sec faster than the standard car) and has top speed of 305 km/h ( 2km/h more). However, the car still returns 24.6mpg (11.5l/100km).

The price of the Powerkit is £11 118 and it will be available from September this year.
A Sport Design Package includes new 20″ Panamera Sport alloys, a unique, body-coloured nose with wider black air intake grilles, separate side skirts and the standard, body-coloured rear underbody apron with diffuser and fins. The package is priced at £2 516 and it will be available from October 2010.
The 20″ Panamera Sport wheels are dimensioned 9.5J at the front and 11.5J at the rear. They are available in GT silver metallic, black, or co-ordinated in body colour from £2 247 (£1 058 on Turbo models).
As an option, Porsche offers a three-spoke sports steering wheel with gearshift paddles priced at £277.
Customers seeking to further increase the chassis agility of the V8-engined Panamera models can specify Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus) as an option together with Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) and a fully controlled rear axle differential lock. Costing £3 130, PTV Plus optimises steering behaviour by intervening in the brakes on the inner rear wheel in a bend to generate additional rotational force acting in the same direction as the steering wheel. The result is even more direct and dynamic steering response when cornering – and at the same time PTV Plus, in conjunction with the rear axle differential, improves traction on the rear wheels when accelerating out of a bend.
