Not much seperating the 2 in terms of looks, but I'd pick the SC for superior reliability, comfort & practicality. If it's the XKR, it'll be a tougher decision, but I'll still vote for the SC.

I love the XK8 coupe, such a looker inside and out. But its very small on the inside. And you MUST avoid an early model XK, they are plauged with problems. For this reason gotta go with the SC 400. Both are pretty even with handling and acceleration.

XK8 does have a lot of panache in coupe form, its pretty rare.

They are both gorgeous cars, but count me in with the SC400. It will trounce the Jag, quality-wise, and that generation SC was built before they switched over to that ugly (in my opinion) Audi-TT look-alike.

Amen!! Tuberous, bulbous, root-vegetable are all terms that come to mind regarding the second gen SC. It was especially unfortunate that the original show car was deep purple; had an uncommon resemblance to an eggplant on wheels. (Before all you second gen guys flame, please remember that it's jmho.)

The Jaguar's are hot cars no doubt, hotter than the SC even, but you've got to beout of your mind. You can't compare the reliability of both. Better stash away a few grand JIC if you plan on gettin the Jag.
