Default 06 Audi Q7 Spy Shot

The crossover with the mysterious name aims for the U.S.
by Brenda Priddy (2004-12-06)

We ambushed the upcoming Audi crossover wagon on a secret late-night test drive earlier this week. Ignore the phony emblems: this is in fact the new Q7.

Based on the design features that we've seen on Audi's Pikes Peak concept, the Q7 will be riding on a modified Touareg/Cayenne platform, lengthened to accommodate seven passengers in three rows of seats.

The Q7 is expected to be launched as a 2006 model, and will be powered by a 4.2-liter V-8. A diesel option is expected for the 2007 model year.

Isn't that an FX headlight?

What kind of badge/emblem is that on the top page, black one?

I've never been a fan of the wide mouth bass grille and those tail lights look like a spreading tumor, but the overall shape is nice. Not too bad.

Except for the too-large grille, not a bad looking vehicle:.thumbup:

The only thing that concerns me (and should concern Audi) is that this vehicle could end up competing against its own brother, the Audi Avant All-Road.....somewhat like the Volvo XC-90 and the XC-70 Cross-Country......and the Ford Escape and the new AWD Five Hundred.

I don't think that's going to be an issue as Audi announced the discontinuation of the Allroad some time back.

I also don't think the Volvo XC90 and XC70 overlap too much. The XC90 is simply Volvo's biggest seller period and the number one Euro SUV. The XC70 sales probably took something of a hit but it was never their biggest seller to start with.
