Default Name your top 5 favorite muscle cars.

These are mine with #1 being the most favorite...

1. 67 Ford Mustang GT500 Shelby Cobra
2. 67 Chevrolet Camaro Yenko
3. 67 Chevrolet Nova
4. 69 Pontiac GTO Judge
5. 71 Dodge Hemi Cuda

Boy 1967 was a GREAT year for muscle cars. On a side note, I'd give #6 to a Buick Grand National. Lately I've been REALLLLLLLLLY into muscle cars for some reason. My hands are itching to get me a 67 Mustang and do the Conversion... Maybe the NSX will have to be on hold..

1. 1970 Pontiac GTO....almost any color.
2. 1970 Plymouth Road Runner....in Purple Plum Crazy, Tor-Lime Green, or Bright blue.
3 1970 Plymouth Barracuda with the Hemi or 440-six-pack....same Mopar colors
4. 1970 Dodge Challenger (the Barracuda twin) ...same engines and colors.
5. 1968 Olds 4-4-2 in almost any color.
6. 1969 Mercury Cougar Eliminator in bright orange.
7. 1965 Shelby Mustang GT500....blue / white stripes.

But.......I'll take almost any modern muscle-car over these, engineering-wise.
Carburators, breaker-point ignition systems, drum brakes, recirculating ball steering, chassis lubes every couple of thousand miles, and non-clearcoat paint ALL s - - k, IMO.

Hey LR, one point of clarification - they didn't make the GTO Judge until 1969. GTO (no judge trim) was first available in 1964 1/2 as an option on the LeMans, then its own model starting in 1965. 1967 was one of the 'coke bottle' shaped years, the GTO Judge in 69 had the Endura front bumper instead of the big flat piece of metal.

I LOVE the snorkel hood option on those things. So outlandish.

1. 1969 Camaro - COPO (ZL-1 factory option)
2. 1966 (I think) Plymouth Belvidere - (precursor to the GTX) was a 1 off car made at factory and given to a street racer in Detroit. Came bare bones (even had seats from a van to save weight) and 483ci hemi motor. Off the factory line did 10.31 in 1/4 mile.
3. 1971 Nova SS
4. 1970 Chevelle SS - L88
5. 1970 Buick GSX - 455 Stage IV

where are some good places to buy those muscle cars? do they break down a lot?

i'm assuming modern amenity like power steering and disc breaks are all on these fully restored bad boys right? i'd much rather get one of these than a civic ex !!

These are the fastest muscle cars of all time, as ranked by Muscle Car Review Magazine, the source on muscle cars. This ranking was developed by comparing muscle cars as measured by different, respected sources, which were then ranked by their respective quarter mile elapsed times.

I have finally understood the definition of the term "Muscle car". Paraphrasing , it simply means very powerful and fast American cars from the late sixties and early seventies.

And there I was calling my 99 GS400 a modern muscle car. Is there such a term?

This is how I define muscle cars, although other people may define them other ways. Muscle car: A car with gobs of raw power and is very very basic. Remember, these cars had basically none of the amenities we have today. No power steering, heated seats, etc, etc. And yes, to me they have to be American and from the 60s/70s. I think there is such a thing as a modern muscle car but I would only call the Vipers that. The Viper is an absolutely basic car with the only emphasis on speed.
