Good find. For the most part, Chrysler is really kicking but in the car game. This Charger has ups and downs for me, but overall, not bad at all. I like it.

There was like a 3 page write up in the newest car and driver (the one with the hemi charger on the cover) It should be no suprize though, they said all along they'd make it as the sedan magnum.

It'll be fun to watch the 300c/chager compete with the crown vic and impala, there was a huge debate on (i think i'm not sure) motortrends forums about new cop cars from chrysler/dodge

You're not alone...I like it too. The original Dodge-Plymouth musclecars in 1970-71 had a color called "Tor-Lime" ...the lime green you see here....that was an extra-cost color. You can also see it today on some Dodge sport-trucks.

bought the issue yesterday at lunch. I just hope the actual car coming from Dodge is close to the drawings in the article. BEAUTIFUL!!!

I had a deal worked out on a 300C to replace my GS (long story), but my wife and I decided to buy another SUV instead. I will be replacing my older Mitsu with a Magnum or a Charger for sure in a year or so!

Make sure, before you actually buy a Magnum or Charger, that you check out the new 2005 400 HP GTO.....Pontiac is addressing some of the complaints about the plain looks and adding scoops and other retro features for 2005. Then, just to be double-sure, check out the new 2005 Mustang GT too.....now there is a real retro-looking product.
I'm not trying to steer you away from a Charger (after all, I started this thread) but just to tell you that the Charger WILL have competition, that's all.

I love the look of the new GTO (and who can argue witht he HP figures?), but I'll be needing a sedan / wagon, and the Mustang and GTO are 2 doors short.

I do like the new Mustang styling as well, but I think my coupe days are over....until the kids go off to college that is

mmarshall, what are some of the other good "muscle car" color in additional to the tor-lime?
05 mustang looks pretty retro indeed, i hope the interior is some what close to the concept car although that's prolly impossible ...

I guess color is a matter of personal taste. I like bright colors myself, especially for muscle cars. There were maybe 25 or 30 different original 1970-71 Dodge-Plymouth muscle-car colors ( Chrysler was known for their variety of factory colors ) in the baked enamel finish......this was before the days of clearcoat paint. And....there were the five famous extra-cost colors available on certain lines......the lime-green recreated here ( Tor-Lime), the bright Hemi Orange, the bright-yellow Lemon Twist, the bright red ( I forgot what they called that ) , and, my favorite, the bright purple-violet ( Dodge called it Plum Crazy, Plymouth called it In Violet).

A plum crazy hemi (426?) road runner would be to die for. I saw an episode about classic cars on Speed once and they featured it. Amazing car, with matching colored wheels to boot!

Yeah...the Road Runner was a real classic....with the bird graphics and beep-beep-horn. Like you, I would probably ****** one up if they did a retro version today with modern engineering.....like the new GTO. But it 's unlikely.....even though I have talked to some factory people about this......due to the retirement of the Plymouth name. They would have to market it under Dodge or Chrysler instead.
In high school one of my closest friends lucked out.......he got a brand-new 1970 purple Dodge Challenger R/T Plum-Crazy with the 440 6-PACK (3 2-barrel carbs) and the big hood shaker. 390 HP and well over 400 ft.lbs of torque. He and I had some fun with that car. He laid a few patches with it.....But he and I were both pretty sensible drivers compared to a lot of guys our age back then. That's why we're still both alive.

I forgot to mention.....it took GAS to run those cars back then. That Challenger had a 21 or 22-gallon tank, and Johnny averaged 96 miles to a tankful. Worked out to about 4 or 5 miles per gallon....on 100-octane leaded high-test.

Plum Crazy Purple was a very cool color, but my all time favorite muscle car is the 71 Hemi Barracuda in Hemi Orange

here is a nice example of the Plum Crazy color:

another Plum Crazy Purple:

and here is the Hemi orange, with the flat black Hemi graphics that the new Charger drawing uses:

I believe they kept it simple on the Red, calling it "rallye red", but I could be wrong
