I wasn't trying to say Porsche is unreliable. Today's water-cooled turbo models can push 650hp w/ease while tearing up roadcourses. This w/no cooling issues whatsoever, cant say that about anything short of a supercar.

I think the problem is Carrera specific. The article stated Porsche is aware of the problem, but isn't sure of why it occurs. They actually swap the whole engine out and replace it entirely.

Once the warrenty ends, servicing engines could be very expensice.

Yeah, I remember but that was the first year. Honda's first attempt at a semi-exotic daily driver. Even Honda has the right to make mistakes.
Porsche has been making the same basic car for a millenia. Even still, we can excuse them because it's a Porsche. I don't know anyone...male or female who doesn't want to ride in a Porsche.

Doesn't Porsche have the most wins at the Le Mans 24 Hours Race?

I'd pass up both the NSX and 911 for a R34 GT-R. Cheaper than both, and probably more reliable.

::Shrugs:: $0.02
