Have you seen the inside of a Maybach (either wheelbase)?
Lexus is the absolute best at mass-producing high quality cars;
But I have a feeling that Toyota will never match the traditional British and German hand-built's in either exclusivity/desirability or quality.
There's just no way they can restructure, aquire the craftsmen/women - the expertise - the tradition, and offer the same quality car at a lower price which is what it would (will) take for these cars to move.

The problem with Lexus is not with acquiring the craftsmanship, but they have to build up the prestige of the name much further before even considering such a move. Finishing the interior of a superlux sedan is not much different from making ultra high end custom furniture as I see it, the craftmanship & materials are available if you have the budget to do it. The thing is they certainly can't even dream of selling a $300K car under th Lexus name, even BMW have to acquire Rolls Royce , & Mercedes has to revive the Maybach name to compete in this segment, obviously thinking that the Mercedes name does not have enough clout to compete with the Rolls Royce name at the $300K + level.

You guys are forgetting something.....this car would not be going up against the Maybach. It will be going up against the upper tier of the S-class(S500, S600) and the BMW 760Li, Audi A8L, and Jaguar Super XJ.
Due to this it's kinda pointless to compare the interior materials, craftsmanship to that of a Maybach. There is no way a $100K Lexus is going to have the interior of a $300K+ Rolls Royce, Bentley or Maybach.
