thinking about buying
I am getting a new car and am having trouble deciding which one I want. It's between Mercedes C class infiniti G35 coupe, or the IS 300. Help me decide!!!
hi there, welcome to the forum.
for us to help, i think it would be helpful if you can tell us what you want from a car. performance? handling? comfort? space? audio? quietness? brand? how long you going to keep it?
etc...
and also which c class you are interested in (though i probably have answer against all c class models anyway, hehe)

From this list it would be G35. Mainly because I'm a coupe guy....the bigger power band too. Never buy benz for your daily driver.....you'd regret it!

Well, when I was searching for my car, I was trying to decide between the S2000, G35 Coupe, and IS300 (and briefly considered a Z4). The S2000 was actually my top choice, but then I started hearing about all the awards the G35 received (this was around the time it was released), and my fiancee had the IS300 as her top choice.
I test drove all cars except for the Z4. The Z4 (and like all new BMWs now) are over-priced in my opinion. I really like the fun of driving the S2000; in fact, I lost control during the test drive and nearly hit a curb going too fast around a corner.
However, it was too noisy and had poor visibility to be a daily driver.
Therefore the G35 Coupe became my top choice after I test drove it. Visibility wasn't great, but I really like the power, and it was more practical than the S2000. I also really liked the sound of the exhaust. However, the car was pretty expensive and a bit over-priced due to the high demand at the time.
So then we ended up at a Lexus dealership and test drove the IS300. I've always like the look of the car and the fact that it's a Toyota. The car was very quiet and had a nice smooth ride while still being capable of great handling. There were also just a lot more standard features, and it was a much better value.
Since I was also in a bit of a rush to buy, I ended up getting the IS300 because of the deal I got and immediate availability. At the time I didn't know about all the things I could do to modify the car, but I do now and no longer have that quiet car.
Overall, I was pick between the G35 Coupe and an IS300. Depending on the intended purpose of the car (weekend or daily driver), you decide which one gives you the best bang for your buck.

I still own my IS300, its my wife's car. The IS300 is a nice car but the G35 is a great car.

well, me being a performance driver which also looks for comfort and luxury, if i were given the g35c as a choice, i would have gotten that car over the is300. that's just a better car imho. a lot more power, same if not better handling, bigger interior imho, better tranny from what i could tell.
price yes the g35c is about 5k more fully loaded, but it's worth the difference.
however, given that my wife she didn't like the interior of the car..... oh well

Both the G35 coupe and the IS300 are likely to be reliable. I'm not a big fan of Nissan / Infiniti interiors but the G35 has one nice interior feature...the whole gauge pod tilts up and down with the steering wheel so that gauges aren't blocked. If you regularly drive on wet or slippery roads consider the G35x All-Wheel-Drive sedan.

I agree, they are comfy. The problem is you don't know if the one you choose will be reliable or a serious headache. If you don't know, see www.lemonmb.com
