exotic affordability
(rominl you might know this a bit better), but today in san gab area i saw a blue ferrari-- it's not the entry-level modena, and then a white modena. the dark blue one's driven by some late 20 early 30 and the white modena's driven by young kids i believe. so we have jimmy in rowland hts, and i've seen a gun metal modena in punte hills amc 20 as well......
what's the monthly lease on those things??!! lol. i duno what else to say , but my gut instinct about these area's automotive revolution seems to be confirned-- 2 years ago was a spur of porche's, now the prancing horses are showing up....
wow, it's just amazing... (i couldn't say it's a good or bad thing)

haha HOW would i know better, it's not like i have any of them. i have a gs400, is300, and a camry that's all
the "not-entry-level" ferrari you saw is the 575, that's the v12 version of the ferrari. by comparison the 360 is probably like the toyota corolla compared to the lexus gs430
i know a new 360 out of the door is probably around 200k give or take. but as i have read somewhere i forgot, even you look around hard enough, you can actually get a 2000 360 for ONLY 90k.
honestly for a 200k sticker car, 90k is really NOTHING for only 3 to 4 yr old. now i havent' been in LA area for a while, but i definitely noticed that around RH, diamond bar, walnut, in those area, more people with money are around there now. i think i have seen 2 ferrari there so far (you are too lucky, haha)
maybe they got them new i don't know, but i have a feeling that they got the 360 used, yes it's a lot of money, but if they drive it for 3 yrs or so, they can still the car and probably not lose THAT much money. see, say they bought the car for 120k, drive for 3 yrs and sell for 90k. they ONLY lose 30k. you spend 30k on a ferrari for 3 yrs, that's only 10k a yr. if you are slightly towards the well off class, this is absolutely nothing
so sometimes when i see these cars, i try to see if they have licence plate. if they don't have licence plate at all, or still with dealer plate, god, you have to worship them for sure man
heck, even for a 60k car, if you lease it, the monthly payment is something like 800 to 900 bucks. even if i give you 800 bucks a month to lease a 60k car. to lease a 200k car, that means you pay an easy 2500 a month.... god, me and my wife together we pay less than that amount for our apts!
just a side note, from an economical point of view, i think it makes a lot more sense to buy exotic car used. you pay a lot less to begin with. depreciation rate is slower on 3-4 yrs used car so when you sell it out again you don't lose that much. you dont' want to keep those cars long anyway unless you wanna start jacking up the maintenance cost. you get the chance new exotic car every couple of yrs, how cool.

wow, for 90k i guess thats ok,,,, considering all the s-class rolling around into the ranch 99, hong kong plaza. i'm telling u, this place is crazy! hmm,,, that makes a lot of sense, driving it 10k a year. i dun think i've seen any of those with front license plate-- who has the heart to do that?
just curious, how did u know that one's that particular 575? u seen it huh? it's got shining rims too

i have seen 360 and 575 around that area, seems like people over there got lottery or something
I live in Arcadia (San Gab Valley) so I totally understand what you're saying but I don't think its really a new thing. Since my freshmen year of hs to now (just graduated) I've noticed tons of crazy cars. I think the San Gabriel Valley is honestly the m3 capital of the world. You go to Life Plaza or just drive residential and you see at least 5 or 6. There is a 575 in front of the derby regularly and the white modena u speak of is owned by this young guy who owns promax in alhambra. Don't you also notice the ridiculous amount of SL500/55's running around? 3 of my friends, recently graduated hs received g35 coupes from their parents. G35's are like corollas around here. It's crazy.
yeah i have no doubts that LA is capital of all cars, it's just insane. you got chinese area (monterey park, san gabriel, arcadia, walnut, city of industry, rowland height), you see tons of nice cars. honestly i don't think m3 is anything that special anymore. even modded m3 is like old school stuff already. that's how well off people are over there. some of the parents they have so much money they need to find place to spend
i still remember way back in my old junior college days (a bit well off school, but i wasn't one of them), i saw mb and bimmer as usual school bus, with a few ferraris going around.... oh welll

hello praetorian180 , welcome to the discussion.
wow, i dun even know what promax is, care to share?? well so he's a shop owner so that's pretty cool, not sure if that'll add any credibility to his business skills/sense thou.
u r rite about the m3s and amg's. ya, in rowland hts there are so many m3's as well. it's just crazy. u live in arcadia, so u prolly see many many good cars. and that 575, is it the mid night blue one?? either way sometimes i feel like this neighborhood's priorities seem a bit different? again, it's not a rite/wrong, black/white thing..

Tell me about it.
I love exotic cars and have nothing against them. But seriously, seeing a bunch of 20 something year old drivers driving these cars?
No offense to anyone, but I think Ferraris and other exotic cars are made not only for a purpose (to look good and bring status symbols), they're also made to be owned by people who are fit to be seen in one.
When I was in law school, I've always dressed up in suits and worked with older attorneys (some of them quite wealthy) all over the place. But even so, I was a little bit embarassed to be seen in a SC400.
Despite the fact that our capitalistic society doesn't really work quite this way, I think it's probably best to leave kids and young folks with cars such as Toyotas, Hondas, etc.
I have no problem with the middle aged folks rewarding themselves Lexuses, Mercs, Jaguars, etc.
As for these exotic cars, they're probably better to be left to the aristocrats, movie stars, or politicians, who have worked hard all their life. They're truly the people who can be admired being seen in one of these cars.
I've always believed in this phrase: It's always not the smartest thing to climb too high when you're too young. You may just take a fall someday.
PS. Forgot to add. Maybe I am just too old school.
I've always associated Ferraris and Lamboghinis
owners as white folks in their 40s, 50 and 60s.
