"The two happiest days in a Ferrari owner's life are the day he buys it and the day he sells it."
"Buying cars like a Bentley or Ferrari or any other exotic car is kinda like buying an airplane. It's not so much the cost of admission, its the cost of maintenance and regular care and feeding. I mean, its not like Pep Boys will stock most parts for that car. And factory trained mechanics don't work for $8/hour."
go for it... screw the maintinence. Ferraris are a piece of art. true, you have to stay on top of them, and they probably dont have the realiability of a toyota, but id still get it. Just as long as it not a lemon. With the Quality standards of Ferrari, i highly doubt there is a Lemon out there. Good Luck, and I hope to be in your shoes by you age!

I would get it either in yellow or black.... the blue is my 3rd choice.
Im gonna hafta agree...a ferrari is one of the ONLY cars id get in yellow...its a ferrari damn it it can pull the yellow off well!. my father has had ( and stil ldoes have) his share of ferraris. Service is obviously expensive but ver ynecessary. usually you should have a head start on it (i.e. 30k service at 20k). IM not sure why so dont ask me...But if youre at the point in your life where you can afford to have a third car that costs 100k+ then I assume the service price shouldnt put too big of a dent in. BTW that has to be my favorite ferrari, model color etc. I like it alot more then the modena that my dad has in his stable now.
i c i c, so it comes down to personal pref. even thou red is the traditional ferrari color. thanx for the input guys. i agree, black testarosa looks great. bestarosa means pink forehead, btw. lol.
I have heard the drivetrain is good for 10,000rpms and the only reason that it dosn't is because Europe limits pass veh max rpm. Of coarse being from the US I dont know how much of that is true but if it is. Thats rocks.
3.5L V8 @ 10K rpms would have to be the most glorious sound ever. Period.
I lust after a 355 F1 but not a fan of the Spider. Just me though.
My father used to have a 355, I loved that car, even though I only drove it a few times. Maintenance is definately not cheap, the worst services are the 15k and 30k IIRC. Another thing to look at is that there are not many good techs when it comes to ferraris, and the ones that are good are going to take their time. Parts can be a nightmare too, especially on older cars. Ferrari dealerships and Ferrari North America are often a bit arrogant/ non-helpful unless you are a good customer. Find a dealer or shop around you and go talk to them, they will be able to give you a better feel of what to expect.
As for maintenance, check and see if the belts have been replaced. 355s have a problem with their headers and some interior parts (console) do not wear very well. Neither of these should be a big deal, just something to look at. check out www.ferrarichat.com for more info
i dont know about the blue. Unless there is another blue other than that light blue. one of my friends from Highschool, his brother had a light blue (almost Baby Blue) 355f1. It was kinda loopy looking, but it pulled it off respectfully, but still kinda questionable. It was a nice whip. Never got a ride in it though. just about when i graduated, his brother had to move to Atlanta. Now Ive been told he sold it, which pisses me off, because now i wont get a ride in it.
