The term is now over used. It was to mean litrally JDM parts, like different corner housings, maybe steering wheels, FACTORY parts.
Now it is described for that and what may be considered JDP mods.

JDM is now very overrated and has become too mainstream. If you have magazines featuring mostly stock looking cars, then you know the fad is already done.
JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) are basically parts that were never available to us. But who would pay 400 dollars for a damn clock blocker (sorry thats from an Integra Type R), 200 bucks for "amber" corner lights (Civic), How about this for ridicolous pricing...about 1000 buckaroos for a complete Type R carpet set!
I gathered these prices straight from HondaTech, before it went to JDM tech.
JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) are basically parts that were never available to us.
