DAMN!!! So since it's the Vette engine, I guess the modders are having no problem with forced induction. That is a serious machine!

Oh wow...I saw my first privately owned CTS-V about a week ago and had to drive by twice more and give the guy props. You gotta love the fact that the good ol pushrod LS6 is getting better gas mileage than the M3! That thing is a savage, and I bet the Tremec tranny can hold the tq too!

Wow, just read through the whole auction and it was stroked to a 383, running stock exhaust from the block back.....Its being strangled to death!!! 700 potential hp is insanity on a luxo sedan.

What's the GT series? A race for factory cars? Any links to the finishing of the rest of the field?

But think about this...blown CTS-V vs. E55. 5.7L supercharged 6 spd manual vs. 5.4L supercharged 5 spd auto. Plus, Cadddy has better initial and long term reliability than Benz. Whatever you're gonna be spending $20k on to blow it away probably won't have all the amenities the CTS will. And I can pretty much guarantee it's not gonna be a 4 door 5 seater luxury sedan. Just IMO though.

lol, look for the vid of the 03' saleen s351 w/ pulley, exhaust, etc, etc, 6sp vs. a 03' e55 5.4L s/c 5sp auto w/ bfg drag radials, and you would not say this. they raced 2 diff times both on video and the e55 won. both times
id take the benz over that p.o.s anyday AMG knows whats up. do a search on google ur find it then ur know

ryan

the file names cobravse55 or cobravse55rematch

http://www.sromagazine.com/boards/ar...p/t-79596.html

Yeah, the guys that built that beast are pretty well known and respected around here for their good work tuning GM (F body and Corvette) motors.

Thumbs down No...try again..this is not a Chevy

NO...think again.....this is definitely NOT a Chevy...in spite of the ' Vette-based engine. The CTS is a German design taken from the mid-sized Opel and tested and perfected on the Nurburgring....plus the additional work and tuning the Caddy V-guys have done to it and the engine. If this car has any weak points, it is the traditional second-rate GM fit-and-finish, but even there, this car, with its wire-mesh grille and upgraded interior, is a cut above the standard CTS.

20K to blow this car's doors off? I don't think so. I know of no other new production car in the world in this price range today....even the $21,000 Dodge SRT4....that can run like this. It may be possible to sink 20K into an old muscle car like a Mustang or Camaro and have a rough competitor.....but it would be something old, unreliable, and without a new-car warranty.
