Default motor comparisons

in terms of power, response, weight, reliability, and potential, which motors would be at the top of the list? honda dohc vtec motors, 4g63, 2jzgte, ej20, rb26dett, koeniegegg motor?

they are all different, i dont think it's fair to compare K20A2 with 2JZ or RB26
and there's NA or FI?

Honda VTEC (and some Toyota VTEC) engines, though light, efficient, and reliable, are high-RPM engines with almost no torque...especially below about 5000-6000 RPM...so, in my opinion, that pretty much rules them out in the response department....the super-high RPM's they need for maximum acceleration are impractical in most daily driving. Of course, though, a lot of kids and the tuner crowd are screwing blowers onto older Civic engines and getting a lot of power out of them.

I'm not sure if this matches one of your codes there, but of all the Honda engines, the 2.0 and 2.2L S2000 VTEC engine probably has the best potential and the best combination of the attributes you mention, particularly in a lighter car....but it has a very steep torque curve.

that's true....and then for example the EJ boxer engines are fairly good (stock for stock comparison) yet the subaru trannies are (in)famously weak.

What about the 3UZ-FE (Lexus 430). Lightweight, of course reliable, up to 300hp, 325 lb ft torque, and not brutal on the gas mileage. Of course its not gonna be as powerful as a blown AMG V8 or LS1/6, but overall its pretty good in the NA segment. Doesn't have to be overrevved to reach its torque curve either.
