well for some reason VW now tries to enter the luxury market together with audi. i have no idea what they are thinking

 

I was fortunate enough to drive the VW Phaeton for a day this past January. I was a bit skeptical about it at first, too, but it was a really, really nice car. Of course, the one I drove was the fully loaded W12. I'm a die-hard Toyota fan and can't imagine giving up my Lex for an automobile from a company with lower than average reliability ratings, but the top of the line Phaeton does deserve some consideration. If you've got the money for the W12 it is one hell of a ride.

 

I'd take the LS over it any day, and I would rather have an A8 than a Phaeton for the dough.

 

I would be curious to see the answers in a VW forum.

hey how about VW gives a jetta free with the VW Phaeton V8? would you still get the LS?

 

I'd take an A8 over an LS430 but I think I'd take the LS430 over the Phaeton even though I prefer the Phaeton's looks.

My thoughts too, but I bet those would be the ONLY people to pick the Phaeton over the LS. Honestly, the Ls has been around for some 15 yrs and the Phaeton is a new comer. VW v Lexus nameplate, interiors (seems pretty obvious. What's up with the VW shifter???), and reliability all point towards the LS, so yea, we're biased, but we're also better informed than the general public so I think the LS really is the better choice. The A8 would be closer, but still, I would have to take an ultra luxury LS, Flint Mica on black :droooool:

P.S. If you ever get the chance to see a black cherry pearl LS430 all detailed on the showroom floor, the depth is absolutely AMAZING.
