At least up here in NoCal, you basically pay the ticket which they call court fees. That lets you go to traffic school and not have the points show up. Traffic school was a separate fee but it was pretty minimal.

i think its for the traffic school required for that ticket. How much was the ticket itself...do you know?

The original courtesy notice that I got was for $213 for a stop sign and no license plates. not my fault but im not going to get into this. so when i requested traffic school it gave me this lesser amount, so i got scared. I thought so much for just traffic school. but now I finally got through to the automated system over the telephone and its said that the total fot the ticket including traffic school would be $182 ,so what i figured out is that when i got the plates part of the ticket written off it brought the ticket down ,and that is why the new amount is less that the original notice . what do you guys think

I think you are right. The plates is a fix it ticket. Once you got the plates, that one went away. The other one is the one for driver's school. It has been a while but the last driver's school I attended, I think you had to bring something like $20 cash, no check or credit card, that paid for the school. Still worth doing. Now you just have to stay clean for a year.
