Apparently the "officer" has little or no knowledge of vehicles currently on the market. Not surprising, really. I'd love to hear how that turns out in traffic court.

I'm not normally very critical of cops.....I usually have a lot of respect for them.....but this is outrageous. This car was legal for sale in New York State. If the guy was speeding, DWI, etc... okay, fine....give him a ticket....it would be deserved. But you don't ticket someone simply for having equipment on a car that is sold legally inthe state.
If I were in his shoes, I would meet first with the District Attorney ( They're the ones who actually prosecute) and, if that doesn't work, a good auto lawyer. The D.A. represents the State ...and if state law allows this car for sale, he has to respect that. If the state still insists on prosecuting, I would consider a counter-suit for unnecessary harassment. But I think that any honest judge would dismiss the whole mess to start with....and that cop would get written up.

The badge number appears to be 20704. If this is true, the cop's name , rank, and status can be traced from that.

Cops are a waste of tax dollars!! All they ever do is write tickets and eat donuts. How is that protecting and serving? I don't feel safe when there are cops around me. I can't trust them at all!!:mad
