Question L Tuned

Why hasn't the L Tuned division of Lexus taken off? It doesn't seem as prestigious/performing like BMW's M or MB's AMG, nor as well known.

BMW's //M (Motorsport) division and Mercedes Benz's AMG division have very long racing histories. They have gained notoriety and respectability by means of proven, consistent performance over time. The Lexus and Toyota Racing Development L-Tuned division was established in August of 2000, making it a very young division, but with the potential of gaining the same level of notoriety and respectability as //M and AMG. Keep an eye on them!

Very little to no interest except for those of us here.

nah TRD is still alive and kicking they've got a good following there...

I dont really think L-tuned had any ideas about trying to compete with M and AMG... it was more of a bodykit and wheel thing (nice clean ones at that)

If Toyota really wanted to compete with M and AMG and saw a real monetary reason too; they'd wipe them off the face of the earth Which in their last statement, they are very interested in a performance division; so we'll have to see

The reason Ltuned failed was because toyota didn't fully commit. They only put half the effort into it.

Only half of the lexus dealers even knew about it as well. If only they were able to pull off the supercharger project for the IS and GS ; maybe things would be different.

But the main reason, they didn't make a commitment to it.
