Default Anyone here following DAKAR?

So is anyone here following the race? Too bad Toyota/Hino has only one truck in the race this year, especially since they totally dominated only a few short years ago.

It makes a loyal fan angry...Just dropping world-class racing events like that...Anyone care to remember LeMans a few years back? They punctured a tire in the final laps, came in second, and, well, never came back. Shame. They probably could have won the following (years). Now Audi dominates and it's no fun to watch.

And now with the F1 scandal...Get it together, Toyota. You're testing our love and devotion...

Not to mention the Nascar Channel is providing such GREAT coverage of this year's race...

Lightbulb

*crickets chirping*

Well, if you're interested, there will be a recap of the first few day on Speed this afternoon starting at 1pm (EST).

I think new episodes air every night at 9 pm (EST).

w00t! I know I can always count on you Richie when it comes to responding to my posts about races that aren't popular in the US...

BMW isn't doing too badly either...My favorite is watching the big trucks race... I'll be happy if Nissan or Mitsu win.

Be interesting to see how Colin McRae does. Ari Vatanen (another former WRC champion) won first time out of the box a few years back........................

Hey, hey, hey I ask these kinda of questions every year (Dakar, Le Mans, ...). It's really just to make sure I'm not the only crazy person staying up late at night to watch races that 99% of people never heard of.

Those Dakar guys have GOT to be crazy. I guess I can understand going out there and getting burnt and battered for days and days in a truck or something, but some of the people on dirt bikes? Come on. I saw a few guys fall completely under the water when they were trying to forge a river on their dirt bikes. Guess its all love for the sport cuz there's no way you'd ever see me out there.

For most of the races I do not need to stay up late at night, LOL

Yeah, cheap CRAPPY gas. I can't wait 'til we get the SuperDiesel you guys have in Europe (and Japan too). I think it's supposed to go on sale in 2006? Hopefully once that happens we'll start seeing some of those cool diesel engines that are in use in Europe and Asia.

Cool and diesel don't really go well together.
I'd rather drive a gas powered car.
