Looks pretty broken to me...not sure where your logic is coming from on this one.

And pressure washers don't open hatches/trunks on any car I have ever owned.

Did you even watch the whole video? Trunks are not supposed to bend that way, no way the hinges survived that.

OK....in this case, I'll stand corrected. My laptop must have had a partial-freeze....the first time I watched the video, it only showed the first couple of seconds.... it didn't show the part where the lid got bent back more than it was designed for. Yes, I'll agree....those brushes may, in fact, HAVE damaged the lid.

This one, however, I WILL stand by. The fact is, like it or not, on the Encore GX and Trailblazer (which use the same trunk hardware), if the strong stream of water, from a hose or from a handheld car wash spray nozzle, is directed under the rear hatch-lid in just the right angle, it WILL pop the hatch-release.....period.

Now, just how many different vehicles do that, I can't say. But, I do know that is a quirk of that design....and that is just one more reason why I stay out of automated car washes, and do it by hand

May have? They pinned the hatch back against the roof...

Well, like I said before.......that's why I avoid those places.

If you didn't see the second part of my post above, high-pressure water, at just the correct angle, CAN cause the trunk-lid on my Encore GX to be released. The sensor gets fooled into thinking that it is your hand pressing on it, and not the water spray.

No vehicle is perfect....there are quirks in every design

1. Blown amplifier in my Grand Marquis, iirc, because a first time location power was enough to push water into trunk.
2. Repeated blown passenger door speaker in Dodge Challenger due to a water leak that came with the vehicle. Took a few years before I caught it.

- Not damage, but I once went through a car wash and the water cycle/tekmologee must have been broken because dirty water came out of the device and vehicle came out dirtier than when entered.

Good times, good times.

Another time was my own car (my 4GS) the car ahead of me didnt drive and rolled backwards into my car on the conveyor. Luckily it only bent the license plate

So annoying. Add on the Mercedes the damn door handles constantly pop in and out
Yeah it is, have to leave the keys far inside the garage whenever I wash anything. I don't have the mirrors set to auto fold on anything though lol!

I usually just unlock then toss the fob inside. It prefer unfolded mirrors while washing.
Tesla does not fit my lifestyle or housing. Need to be a multi millionaire in NYC to afford a home with a huge driveway/garage. Whenever I park in my driveway I have to squeeze by the car to access the backyard, huge inconvenience, so I just park on the street and keep the driveway clear, much like vast majority of people in NYC.

Agreed. If I had the space for this, I would have an EV or PHEV yesterday.

@Och You ever see apartment buildings where an extension cord comes out of a 2nd or 3rd floor window to charge up the EVs or electric bikes? I'm not doing that lol.

On my block and on adjacent block someone tried running a cable out of their window with a little ramp over it to charge their EVs. They would also put a bunch of cones to try and save their parking spot. The cops put a stop on that nonsense right away.

Even most E bike doordashers have switched to gas powered mopeds. Most of them rent bedspace in a room, and live 4-6 people in a room, they have nowhere to charge their bikes, and buildings ban e-bikes due to multiple fires.
