theres no "lexus version" thats just a lexus EV concept which will probably be shelved considering where the EV market is going. Toyota was never big into EVs anyways.

Quote: LC is the successor to the SC 400.

They should have shared platforms with the RC & MK5 Supra. That time has passed and they clearly realize the mistake they made.

Why would they have done that? The A90/A91 platform clearly outclasses the RC's platform which was already ancient when the Supra came out. The RC is heavier, slower, and doesn't handle as well. Also has the wrong engine configuration.

BestCar accurately reported the late-decision to market this car as a GR instead of Lexus, in October 2024. They also have been reporting on its development with the aluminum space frame and engine output being lowered to the 650hp range for the past year, lower from the initial targets of 750-950 (maybe the GRMN will still hit 750)

Explains why lots of elements inside the car are derived from Lexus, like the steering wheel is from the ES and the AC vents are from other Lexus models. As well as the "spindle body" front grille shared with the TX.

Really don’t see the point of these cars today.

eg. Nissan stopped the production of the GTR. No one wanted the new Honda NSX.

Its more of a passion project than anything else.

It's essentially a homologation special

Wow. What a fail.

No doubt this will be overpriced and underperform, I was hoping for at least 800hp after all this time. It's also just a worse version of what the Germans had 13 years ago and nothing special like the V10

Chassis is not impressive, if it was they would release specs for stiffness. It's also heavy, 650lb heavier than a Viper and will no doubt be absolutely trounced by one.

Trans is not a PDK, just an auto with a cope converter. I don't like this method at all in the AMGs and I doubt it will be good here, it may have reliability issues as well. This strange desire to make it approachable is total nonsense to me, put a MANUAL or dual clutch in it.

Engine even in the pictures has some dumb design decisions, hopefully it doesn't grenade like the V6

It is front mid engine so I'll give them that, that's nice

It visually looks very cool/good to me

Let's pray performance is up there at least. My bet it that it barely beats a base C8 and gets killed by the Z06

I'm happy with everything about the GR GT except the looks, and I would prefer it without the hybrid, but not fussed about that, they probably only made it hybrid to meet emissions targets.

It is 1.2m low of the ground, that is nice, next to LFA it is lower and looks mean (and weird).

I also think it looks better in brighter colors.

However I am now expecting this thing to cost a heap, I was hoping for LC ballpark, but looks like it could be twice as much with all the engineering gone into this, it is a very impressive machine, I still want one.

Yes, it uses latest Lexus design cues, but it is not from ES. @Hoovey689 it only makes sense that it will be sold in LEXUS showrooms in USA.

oh yeah, LFA seats, lol. LFA seats were nicee, but these are not LFA seats. And also, this is not a Toyota interior, it is an Lexus. So if decision to make it Toyota and not a Lexus, was a last minute marketing one, then it was developed to be Lexus priced too.

Technically, if we're splitting Toyota brand hairs, it's a GR. So it'll be interesting to see which dealerships get to sell them.

Quote: LC should had a modern turbo engine
Toyota's modern twin turbo V6 is an embarrassment. They should have used the same strategy as the Supra. Let the Germans supply the engine.

So I really want to know - who is buying this thing?!

Anyone trading in their LFA 🤣

What a dud by Toyota/Lexus but not surprised.

I suspect this will cost more than a GT3RS.

a dual clutch wouldve pushed this car to be 4000# and more expensive. DCT are monsterously overrated and only belong on bleeding edge cars. DCT is one of the main reasons the C8 vette gained a huge amount of weight. Gotta love the $1300 DCT service jobs for them. Fast automatic is good enough for 99% of owners who dont track the car
