Tesla working to add Apple CarPlay - Bloomberg
kim java’s video points out the odd situation of tesla bringing carplay while gm is getting rid of it.
they also point out 1 in 3 people won’t buy a car without carplay.
i predict though that once tesla has carplay, that will help sales, but few people will use it.
thinking about carplay in the tesla ui, it’s a bit like running windows under macos with bootcamp or parallels lol but carplay is a lot simpler.

but as you say you can use your phone as a hotspot today avoiding the premium $99 fee, just like carplay also relies on phone data.

it's not really predictable what will happen.
i think you're both being a bit complacent. apple and google aren't just two little app developers. AA/ACP *will* get better and may offer things tesla isn't close to offering, which may then encourage tesla owners to spend time in those environments and less on tesla's.
it's not really predictable what will happen.

not saying you think they're bad, and not denying their value is limited on a tesla... TODAY. that's the point...AA/ACP will keep evolving and will almost certainly have features tesla does not have, one or more of which could be SUPER desirable, so at that point, ACP/AA don't become just a talking point to overcome a sales objection, but instead become something desirable, not only for new buyers, but existing owners who realize, hey that's cool and there's no tesla app to do that.

How many of those are accidents? Tesla's are one of the safest cars I've driven. It will warn you and auto brake itself if someone slows down or stops in front of you, it happened once to me when I got to close to the car in front of me and suddenly hit their brakes
Where did you get that data from? The report I just read is extremely misleading. It says Tesla had the most "incidents", which includes DUI, speeding and citations. Ram drivers are listed as the worst in 16 states:

- The three brands with the worst drivers overall also have the highest accident rates. Tesla, Ram and Subaru drivers had 26.67, 23.15 and 22.89 accidents per 1,000 drivers in the period analyzed, matching their accident rankings from our last study. Meanwhile, Pontiac (10.33), Mercury (11.50) and Chrysler (12.94) had the lowest accident rates.

Microsoft Teams comes to mind. Apple's App Store has literally millions of apps, probably thousands of which have been adapted to CarPlay. It's just nearly impossible for Tesla to have that many apps. Doesn't matter if you find those apps useful of not, other people might.
