Default Volvo Armored XC90

Very well-made ad yet surprisingly dystopian to have a manufacturer openly advertising armored vehicles to the public. Speaks of the current mindset of consumers I suppose...

Nothing new, been offered on top level euro cars in particular since the 90s.

No **** sherlock. What I'm talking about is how Volvo is openly advertising it to the public. Regular car buyers, not politicians or oil barons.

Oh they aren't, normals aren't buying armored due to cost. This is simple brand halo marketing, Volvo has always been the "safety" brand so naturally an armored is the same tactic that dodge for example used with the hellcats.

Highlight the big thing and get people thinking the base model they actually buy "shares DNA" or some such BS with the real version or today different car that the brand positions at the top. LFA being the most egregious example of this tactic

Volvos desired public perception is "safe" what's more safe than a car that can tank a full mag of black tip and a pair of grenades?

Here's an article from when they introduced it 6 years ago: https://www.carscoops.com/2019/06/vo...-to-order-now/

Sounds like at the time, they started at $570k for the T6 model, so the T8 PHEV in the video is likely well over $600k now, before considering tariff implications.

The XC90 in the ad is the light armor version, about $50K more than the regular version. Still pricey but around the same price range as a Cayenne.

Ah, the "ghetto special" armor spec haha! Perfect for stopping a 33 round burst from a Glicky with a switchy. That add was very well made, actually made me want to look at one and that's really rare.

Hell for $50k that's a great deal! Hopefully people buy at least a few 100 stateside so I can have one wander into my collection in 3-5 years, I BADLY want a full on VR6 rated Audi but they all need to be imported. It would be the perfect addition to both the collection and functional for city trips.
