Screens are getting so complex nowadays that one don't necessarily have to be Grandma to get confused. It's getting to the point where we may (?) have to seriously consider some Federal regulations at standardization and/or easier operation...or just not putting so much info on-screen.

Well, some of the things that you yourself like in today's vehicles came from regulations. And, yes, without getting into politics, people also voted for those regs...at least indirectly.

I have heard the GV70 has a major issue with the rear diffs. Owners have been through 3 with less than 60k miles and at the time I had read up on the issue, there was still no fix / revised diff. Not sure if that has changed now.

Thanks for all the replies, everyone. This is helpful!

Yeah she's not like us (lol on forums) but oh she likes cars. She was an only child and a daughter (obviously) and my Grandpa was a huge car guy so she knows what's up for a woman in her 70s, damn right.

She doesn't like all the screens in the Nautilus. I don't either for that matter.

Monday we are going to look at GXs. I wouldn't be shocked if she really likes the old one as well, a late late edition. My friend has a few of those for sale including a Nori Green one, I'm going to show her that one as well.

Hard to get away from screens nowadays. They have become an integral part of the design of most vehicles.

Oh, it's trending backward.... or will be shortly, the absurd amount of screenage in cars. That's why I'm so damn glad our Denali is a '22 and has a great crisp screen but a thousand redundant buttons below that get used all the time. (I finally sat in the new '25 one and it looks amazing, nice new screen but no thanks..... buttons like on ours please) I think the Navigator and Escalade even look stupid inside now personally. I would want a pre-refresh Escalade-V. Mom likes Yukons and stuff but they're too big for her.

People don't like these spaceship car interiors with nothing but screens and the automakers are finally realizing it and admitting it. Mercedes comes to mind.

Old GX isn't screen heavy, and the new one isn't too bad I don't think? We'll see what she thinks. She loves our LX but doesn't want a new one because it has no V8, and I swear that's not because of me... seriously. She's used to new cars so a V8 '21 LX would be a little old for her. She does love our old thing, though. Especially size-wise. Which is why I think one of these GXs will call her name... let's see.

I don't think people are so anti screen as they are anti any controls that aren't in a screen. With Mercedes I can tell you the frustration is not with the screens its with the lack of common sense physical controls to go along with the screens, and with reductions in interior quality that MB seems to think adding screens excuses.

You will never see screens disappear, cars have too many functions and features to not have a screen.

Those new Lincolns though, thats a LOT of screen, and screens that they struggle to find meaningful information to display with. I mean, do you need a constant weather forecast screen readout? From everything I have read and watched though the Nautilus is excellent in substance too at least.

I was reading about Mercedes owners reportedly complaining that they'd rather have a strip of wood in the passenger dash area instead of a screen on the new E-Class (or something similar). And Mercedes acknowledged it. I like screens too but enough is enough, don't go overboard... the Lincolns come to mind. The new Expedition looks .... I don't even have a word.... inside. It's fancy for sure but is that what buyers really want??

How screen heavy is the new GX?

Expedition isn't germane to this bc it's too big but those are impressive, I read a big 2025 review. 0-60 in 4.9 seconds per Car and Driver. That's insane. Anyone think when the gen 1 Expedition was out in the 90s that in 25 years it would be smoking most serious, serious sporting/sports cars from said 90s at the drag strip??

In the E Class they have that option, you can get the superscreen or not and if you don't then you get the new dash.

E Class with screen:

No screen:

I would order it without the passenger screen.

New GX is not overly screen heavy:

Nice. GX does look pretty good inside.

And that E-Class is exactly what I'm talking about, that example. That wood looks soooooooooo much nicer there, no WAYYYY I would want that screen.

I don’t see the purpose of a passenger screen, personally.
