the motor trend review was under 12 minutes.
so i tried to watch the auto buyers guide / aka alex on autos, but the video is THIRTY FOUR MINUTES and goes into excruciating detail. even sped up to 1.5x speed, i couldn't get through it.
but one thing alex showed was the center screen on a higher trim (yuuge):
the basic trim screen (laughably, embarrassingly small)
and the land cruiser screen which is kinda in between but integrated with the gauge cluster and looks a lot classier.

I think I prefer the Land Cruiser's styling over the 4Runner. Not a fan of the 4 cylinder powertrain based on Jason Cammisa's review though. I'd probably go with the GX550 if they get the engine issues sorted out on that one.
Honestly most buyers will be fine because it's not like the 1GR V6 is particularly fast either(in fact I'm pretty sure it's slower).
But I wouldn't enjoy it.
fake engine sounds lol. And noise cancellation technology on the new 4R Toyota has no *****, it’s the same engine as the Highlander. At minimum offer the 3.5tt as an extra option. Dare I say be epic, maybe put the old 4.6 in it. Or Toyota should at least offer a modern day V8.

V8s are steadily being driven out of the market (no pun intended), for several reasons, mostly political and environmental. We probably can't discuss some of those reasons here.
What year is your 4Runner?...as I recall, it is only a few years old.

When was your last V8? I swear you had a Buick Lucerne V8

Nope...never had a Lucerne. I thought about it at the time, but decided to get an Outback instead, as I was still working and needed a car that would get through a lot of snow if needed. That Outback was amazing in winter.
Make Buick Great Again
...or rather, make Buick Great again in the U.S. It has been an Icon-brand in China for years.
I will give you credit. You are right GM should have made the Chevrolet Blazer a body on frame SUV. GM has no competitor to the 4Runner or Bronco.
Yep....I was sharply-criticized here by several Car-Chat members for saying that at the time, but history has shown that GM blew it by letting Ford three-up them on the Bronco, Bronco Sport, and Maverick. Those three Ford products, all in very high demand, are getting a lot of sales that Chevy and GMC COULD have gotten a share of, but didn't. And, as you note, the 4Runner has been one-upping them for years. Mechanically, under the skin, the crossover Bronco Sport isn't much different from GM crossovers, but it has the squared-off, chunky, Bronco-look that the GM competition lacks. The small Chevy Trailblazer is an excellent inexpensive crossover (it's the cousin of my Encore GX)...but, I admit, like the larger crossover-Blazer, it also has the wrong name. It is no Trailblazer by any means. GM, through its GMC division, DOES offer the off-road-capable Hummer, but it is battery-electric, weighs a ridiculous amount, and costs a fortune. And it sits so high off the ground that, even at 6' 2" tall, I simply cannot climb in and out of it with my weak legs...one reason why I have not test-driven it.

would you buy a Made in the USA Hyundai?
I would give Hyundai/KIA so much respect if they brought this to the USA. And made it in the USA. It would be the perfect competitor to the Toyota 4Runner

A Buick body on frame version of a K5 Blazer would be a good competitor to the 4Runner and Lexus GX. Shame on GM and Mary Bara

With all due respect, I'm not so sure I agree with that. First, the typical Buick customer does not go rock-crawling off-road. Second, Buick, some years ago, tried selling the truck-based Rainier SUV, a twin to the old-generation BOF Chevy Trailblazer, GMC Envoy, Isuzu Ascender, and Saab 9-7X. It was not successful, and was more or less a sales-flop.

I would more likely choose a Kia or a Genesis....for several reasons, one of them being the excellent local Kia dealer that my brother has had such a good experience with over the years. And, of course, the Genesis products are simply nicer inside and out.

lol that's your level for a pun? you're great mike
most people no longer care how many cylinders as long as it's reasonably smooth and responsive. and I think the new 4runner is more powerful than the old with or without hybrid option?

yes I agree but I think the whole design is pretty bad (so many bulges/bumps/curves, short wheelbase and longer overhangs jacked up so it can do well off road, ugly interior).
