This, so much easier that way

I absolutely despise pillar mounted grab handles. every time I ride in a vehicle that has one (usually a truck). I’m always pawing at the ceiling to try to grab the handle.

I’ve never had to use one when climbing in because I’m tall. I just like that grab it sometimes when I’m riding in the passenger seat. I think my dad‘s 06 Sequoia had them in both locations!

Agreed. It's not bad, but they really messed with something that they didn't need to.

I also really really dislike the new grill material. Everyone knows a Denali grill should be the razor blade stuff, not whatever that's supposed to be. The grill IMO in ours looks 100xs better, size and shape but ESPECIALLY texture. That said, styling is objective. But that's my personal reasoning.

I've seen threads where people have "modded" their grill and put a mesh-type screen behind grill to prevent things like that from happening.
I haven't heard anything! Just took it to Florida, zero problems. Stunningly superb road trip vehicle.

Hmm. I don't use them for entry and exit so I wouldn't know, but in general I want my Oh Shyt handle to be where it should, on the ceiling. I do wonder why they changed it, just randomly curious.

Our LX570 has them in both places ;-).

Also of note a design flaw of these trucks, all of GMTT1XX models: the B pillar is too thick. You get used to it but notice it when pulling out in certain situations, etc. That said, overall visibility is excellent. That's part of what makes these huge beasts so easy to drive.

I’m sure they changed it for that reason, they had feedback that shorter people were having trouble getting up into the truck with the handle on the ceiling.

I definitely prefer it on the pillar.

I just like the pillar for the sake of not damaging the headliner lol!

When I’m riding with someone. In the passenger seat I always get the urge to hang onto that bar for some reason. But only when it’s on the headliner. The one on the A pillar is only good for entry assist.

I have a friend that had a Tacoma and he told me the reason it was on the A pillar was because of the placement of the curtain side airbags. I sternly reminded him I’ve owned three cars with curtain airbags and roof mounted oh-sh** handles.

I've never had/heard of a damaged headliner from using an OS handle placed on the roof.

Sometimes I grab my own handle in the LS430 lol. Of course they put one there for the driver, most cars don't.

There have been a couple of cars that replaced the driver’s grab handle with a fold-out sunglasses holder. Always thought that was a classy touch.

i’ve had one Volvo and two Lexuses. They all had handles at all four corners of the cars. Cheap cars usually don’t have it. I never use it when I’m in the driver seat. That’s what the steering wheel is for. But I’m glad it’s there for people that want to use it like the ashtray or the power rear sunshade.

Like the 2G Sienna? I always thought that was kind of odd and looked cheap and out of place.

Rear sunshades are great for preventing sun damage to the rear speakers and interior lol! Combine them with powered side sunshades and roof shades and you get to cut down on a lot of sun exposure and heat

I can’t resist driving the SL around but it is throwing a minor evap code. 442.

No biggie to drive around until I fix it, right?

I’m having it fixed with top once it gets hot hot.

You can drive with that evap code on. Nothing bad will happen. Does the gas pump click off prematurely when you fill up?

Tennessee has had some bad weather lately. Real nasty storms south of Nashville yesterday, not sure if they reached you in Knox county.

I've been driving around for a few months now with a "check engine" light and throwing a persistemt code for a "small evap leak". Lol

I never use mine. My windows are tinted though. And I would hate the screen going up and down every time I put the car in reverse.

I do have a covercraft sunshade for the windshield and I love it. I use it when my car is going to be parked for more than 10 minutes.
