2024 Tesla Model 3 Long Range AWD has arrived!
Just curious, do you ever drive in standard mode? I never drove in anything but Plaid mode just because I always want the power on tap and can just use the accelerator lightly to drive normal. I don’t get what standard mode does but maybe it somehow gives better range than just modulating the accelerator lightly.
I really want my new Plaid. I’ve been driving my sons Hyundai Tucson and it’s so slow. I feel like I’m at the beach and people are kicking sand in my face all day as they drive around me especially since I have a new driver magnet on the back.

I also don't wanna get a ticket. Insane is too tempting; Tesla named it well.
This is how I look at it. Standard on my Tesla can beat 95 percent of the gas cars on the road. For the model 3 Performance, it's probably more like 99 percent. It's when you are against that 1 percent, or you are going against another EV you would use Ludicrous mode. Frankly, Ludicrous mode was a little scary, and I'm hoping most young people don't discover the M3P and stick to their riced up Civics

If I had a Plaid, I would always have it in Plaid mode. The throttle is so easy to modulate, it makes no sense to me to have any other mode. But there's all kinds of drivers, so I'm sure some folks need it.
Standard mode is for an ICE owner new to a Tesla so that they don't kill themselves. 😁

You definitely get used to the power and sometimes think, I need a little more. I did use it very often and surprisingly I recently had a Charger (probably a Hellcat) keep up with me pretty well but then I had to take an exit.
Not that a Hellcat is slow (it ain't), but I'm betting your foot wasn't near the floor, and his was all the way to the floor. When a car is keeping up with me, I'm usually at quarter to a half while they are all the way down to the floor, I know that because I can hear the engine screaming. I have nowhere the power you have, and if I were to put my foot to the floor, I would be hitting unsafe speeds before I even realized it. A couple of weeks back when I a guy in a Porsche Cayenne tried to take me on, I was passing him at about half throttle while he was at full. Than when I went "full", I left him pretty far behind, enough where it was clear he shouldn't try that again

No, it also has carbon fiber interior trim, and adjustable dampers. It also has track mode setting, and you can move the power around between the motors. Also, bigger brakes, and upgraded seats. But from an exterior view, you can't mistake it from the regular Model 3

I have to

Sounds like a win to me. When you're in the triple digits and he's not pulling on you, it over in my book
Unless you deliberately choose to NOT modulate it.
Standard mode IMO is completely pointless.
