My sister had a 2015 Murano, which is a third gen I believe, and she absolutely loved it. I bet she would love this one too, though she currently is driving an Infiniti QX50 which she has been super happy with.
Totally different buyers. The Murano has a pretty loyal following, actually. I think this new Murano fits the style and feel of what a Murano always has been, and that makes sense. Replacing what as always a very smooth rounded shape with someont square and blocky is what wouldn't have made sense.
Yet it still sold quite well. That interior quality improvement came with the second generation though, and the third generation vehicle that my cousin has is actually very nice inside.
Its just a meh design and could be from any automaker.
Its safe, plain and unoriginal.
Sure it will attract existing Murano owners but Nissan needs vehicles that significantly move the needle as they are in a big predicament.
It also adds nothing from a luxury or performance aspect to differentiate itself.
Mazda is a great example of what is needed to standout.
Kia also has some great products that really have grown the brand.
Nissan has nada.

Definitely. The 2015 Murano was far better than the classic El-Cheapo 1Gen version.
It looks like a Nissan to me. In a sea of blocky, square vehicles, I would say its pretty original.
Luxury and performance? Its a Nissan. You buy that or a Toyota Venza.
Yet...hardly anybody buys Mazdas.
This vehicle will do just fine for Nissan.
Mazda makes cars that people want and doesn’t need to give away with discounts.
Nissan products are catered to ppl that are value shoppers or have poor credit.
The company is in the red.
Mazda on the other hand has new inline 6 engine on RWD based platform which is doing pretty well.
It’s not the volume of sales but the profits generated.
Btw Nissan Ariya is being given away at $250 per month!

Mazda gave tons of discounts. Their Q2 profits got wiped out by incentive spending and they gave a massive price cut on the MSRP of the CX-90 because it wasn't selling at the original prices. They spent billions to develop a new platform, powertrains, and even transmissions in-house in order to attempt to make themselves a "premium brand" yet this strategy has already backfired spectacularly.
To be fair, Nissan isn't doing all that well either but I would bet on their survival well past Mazda just because of how much larger of a company they are.

This describes the evolution of interior quality of the entire Nissan line up over the lifespan of Murano's existence.....
