Actually, no. When I priced one out and the 530 came out to like $55K-$56K I determined that no matter how much I might like the car there was no way I was going to spend that much cash on a 6-cylnder car. I do intend to drive it some day however.

They are some disappointing numbers.

The 545 without nav is going for about 60k, what did your 540i price out at in 2000?

I had the sports package, DSP radio, and heated seats - cost was $57K if I remember correctly. That included the gas guzzler tax as well ($1,200?). I also had to pay the dealer $600 to add the 6 disc CD changer. So about $57,600. Looks like the same thing goes for $60,845 now - but it isn't clear if there is a gas guzzler tax on the 545 or not. I suppose that a $3K increase is actually not that much. However, I would really want the heads up display, NAV, and Active Cruise control (none of which are availalble yet of course).

Also of note, the headlights and tail lights do not seem to look as bad on dark colored 5-series cars.

Your right, all the colors I like are dark, I think that is kind of the same with the 745, seen a white one, ouch.

Guessing 64-65 for the 545 loaded with everything which should be here sometime in the spring. I am wondering what the SMG 545 will lay down zero to 60.....

Saw one again in the parking lot this morning, & there's no way that the new 5 series would grow on me. Yes both the head & tail lights look hideous & the interior already looks outdated, even makes the new 7 looks like a beauty queen in comparison. I know it undoubtedly will be hailed as the king of sports sedan again, but I really couldn't care, as much as I want to.
