Common knowledge, but good post nonetheless.

Ford's ad campaign is horrible, too, while Toyota commercials are often creative and funny. If you live in Texas you know how bad it is. THeir little jingle is all about Texas and Texans, and it's all about how Texans love Ford, basically saying, "keep it up, Texas, you've kept us going." Ford is #1 in Texas, that's all we need to know ya'll.

YEEE-HAW!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, but today I went and looked at the new F-150 truck. Blows away the Toyota Tundra, so Ford can do some things right.

I will agree that the Tundra got blown away as well....but by the Nissan Titan. I saw the Titan at the local auto show and it is a NICE truck, much nicer than the Tundra, IMO. It's got nice accessibility for everything, DVD, with TV for back passengers, Nice navigation system, and just overall a much nicer interior, styling-wise than the Tundra. Of course, that was the fully loaded model, and costs $34K, but the Titan is supposed to start at $22K according to the rep at the show.

I still like that Toyota came out with the Tundra, but they're going to need more than just the crew cab to keep up IMO

Let this be a lesson, none of this would have happened if it wasn't for consumer research.

I know everyone in here is a big fan of Lexus and Toyota but isn't anyone here worried that "..Fords and GM's healthcare cost for it workers are as much as its steels". I want Ford and GM stay on top because that means the thousand of workers (American workers) it has all will still have jobs and healthcare. I wonder how Toyota would do if all their workers were unionized like here in America.

I'm curious - why? I think the new F-150 is a really nice truck. I also think Ford's quality is better than Dodge.

Toyota of course makes hundreds of thousands of cars and trucks here in the U.S. I don't believe those workers are unionized but I never hear of labor disputes either. The current Detroit situation between 'workers and management' will never really change because the roots are so deep so over time the jobs will move elsewhere - not necessarily out of the country though. In the early years of the auto industry the big three treated their workers like crap so they rebelled, formed unions, and forced management into concessions, but it went too far - the unions got greedy (just like they'd accused management of being) and wanted demands that have basically crippled those companies, although not forever. The retirement benefits negotiated decades ago are a huge problem, but recent contracts aren't so rich, so as retired workers die off, GM and Ford (don't know about D-C) will be in better shape financially. Toyota is clearly grabbing share while the big 3 carry their ***** and chains, but don't count them out.
