I’m surprised Volvo is still around.
Their lineup is very stale and Polestar is basically what the new Volvos should have been.
Polestar isn't owned by Volvo anymore and Volvo just had their best sales record in history last year. They're doing just fine.
I've never particularly cared for their 4-cylinder transverse FWD platforms but they know how to style a vehicle and arguably set the bar for modern luxury vehicle interior design. They're like the antithesis of BMW.
Having owned several Volvos over the years I can say they make a solid, safe and with my recent acquisition, V60 Polestar wagon, very fun vehicles. This sport wagon PHEV is quite a car. Car has a couple of personalities, in Pure mode a quiet EV with around 40 mile range, in Polestar mode 0-60 in 4.3 seconds, 455 HP and 523 pound ft. Adjustable Ohlin suspension to allow owners to fine tune handling, and a few other treats make it one of my favorite cars in 56 years of driving. My guess is as Volvo evolves to a pure electric manufacturer they will offer at least one sedan and, fingers crossed, a wagon as well.
Never mind sedans.....I just wonder how much longer Volvo itself will be in the U.S. market.

I know it’s anecdotal and the fact I live in New England but there are a boatload of Volvo SUVs on the streets here. Seems as popular as many other luxury SUVs. The fact that Volvo went all in on SUVs seems, at the surface, that they plan to stay in the US market for awhile. Their sales numbers have been good, sold over 68000 in May 13% increase yoy in the US and 27% increase in Europe. With Geely behind them I don’t think they belong on your list, at least not yet. I’m not sure how moving to an all electric offerings will turn out, only time will tell.
