At first blush, the 2025 Ram 1500 full-size pickup doesn’t look much different than the already excellent 2024 Ram 1500. However, the truck has received a thorough refresh, headlined by the replacement of its HEMI V8s with a pair of high-tech “Hurricane” inline-six-cylinder turbos that make as much as 540 horsepower. The new truck features a revised version of the old truck’s sophisticated five-link rear suspension, which is already known for providing an un-trucklike ride. Air suspension continues to be available.
Ram has loaded the new truck with technology, including an available 14.5-inch touch-screen infotainment system and a passenger-side display. Even the base Tradesman model now comes standard with an 8.4-inch Uconnect 5 infotainment system.
The Ram 1500 is now available with advanced semi-automated driving technology. This Level 2+ system provides hands-free steering, acceleration and braking on certain highways. A new range-topping trim level — Tungsten — is available, though it comes with a hefty price tag.
Though option pricing has not been announced, here are the base prices of the 2025 Ram 1500’s primary trim levels:
The big news is the elimination of Ram V8s from the lineup. They’ve been replaced by a pair of turbocharged inline-six-cylinder engines that offer plenty of power along with a level of smoothness and quiet that V8s don’t normally provide. The standard output Hurricane 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline-six creates 420 horsepower and 469 pound-feet of torque, while the high output Hurricane 3.0-liter twin-turbo makes 540 horsepower and 521 pound-feet of torque. All three engines are mated to eight-speed automatic transmissions.
After an extensive drive of several pre-production 2025 Rams, I found the new powerplants to be the most refined engines you can buy in a pickup. Not only do they produce very little vibration at idle, but they smoothly and confidently provide ample power when asked.
Higher trims get either a vertically oriented 12- or 15.4-inch central touch screen. Ram offers a 10.25-inch screen mounted in the dash for the passenger to use. A special filter prevents the driver from seeing – and getting distracted by – the passenger screen. A 10-inch head-up display is available. The new electrical interface behind the infotainment system makes it faster and more responsive to commands.
While the screens are flush-mounted and elegantly installed in the dash, I did find them susceptible to reflections, especially when light was streaming through the available panoramic glass roof.
A dual-device wireless charging pad is available. It’s OK for smaller phones, but larger phones, such as the iPhone 15 Max, won’t fit. Six-, 10-, 19- and 23-speaker audio systems are available.
While Ford still leads the pack with its array of towing technologies, Ram’s available technology is getting better. An integrated trailer brake controller is included, and large towing mirrors are available on more trims than before. At the high end of the lineup, all parts of the trailering mirrors are electric, including their extension and convex mirror functions.
Ram offers a trailering rear-view mirror that relies on its side cameras, plus a remote camera fitted to the back of the trailer. Unlike some competing systems, the Ram’s cameras display images on the rear-view mirror.
I had the opportunity to tow a 7,400-pound Airstream bumper-pull trailer on the roads of the Texas Hill Country. The truck and its new powerplants hauled the load with ease, with the eight-speed transmission still providing silky smooth shifts.
It has become a quite pricey truck, especially at the high end, with prices approaching $90,000 for a light-duty pickup. That’s not exclusive to Ram, however, with Ford and GMC models right up there with it. Perhaps the only truck available these days with exceptional deals is the Nissan Titan, which is a good, solid truck that doesn’t get much respect in the marketplace.

How Much Will the 2025 Ram 1500 Cost?
The base price of the 2025 Ram 1500 climbs slightly to $40,275 for a rear-wheel-drive Tradesman model, compared to the 2024 model’s $39,420 base price. That’s not a huge jump considering the newly standard equipment on the base truck, such as an 8.4-inch infotainment system.Though option pricing has not been announced, here are the base prices of the 2025 Ram 1500’s primary trim levels:
- Tradesman: $40,275

- Tungsten: $87,155
How Does it Perform?
The Ram 1500’s base 3.6-liter, 305-horsepower Pentastar V6 carries over into the new Ram. It pairs with a mild hybrid system that adds 90 pound-feet of torque to the engine’s output the moment you press the accelerator. The big news is the elimination of Ram V8s from the lineup. They’ve been replaced by a pair of turbocharged inline-six-cylinder engines that offer plenty of power along with a level of smoothness and quiet that V8s don’t normally provide. Interior Technology
Every 2025 Ram 1500 features an easy-to-use Uconnect touch-screen infotainment system. Lower trims, including the affordable Tradesman, now feature an 8.4-inch screen, up from the outgoing model’s tiny 5-inch screen.Higher trims get either a vertically oriented 12- or 15.4-inch central touch screen. Ram offers a 10.25-inch screen mounted in the dash for the passenger to use. A special filter prevents the driver from seeing – and getting distracted by – the passenger screen. Towing Capacity and Technology
With its sophisticated multi-link rear suspension providing class-leading ride refinement, the 2024 Ram 1500 can’t match the towing capacity of trucks with traditional leaf-sprung rear suspension. When properly equipped, it still offers a healthy 11,580 pounds, which is far more than most light-duty pickup buyers require.

The 2025 Ram 1500 vs. The Competition
The current Ram 1500 has held a spot at the top of our full-size pickup truck ranking for some time, and it looks like it has the right stuff to retain that spot. To me, the Ram feels like a blend of the F-150 and Silverado’s capabilities, with the available luxury of the GMC Sierra Denali and the ride refinement of the Toyota Tundra.

I don't care for the styling that much.
This new engine is an absolute monster. But people are already reporting that in Grand Wagoneers with the Hurricane that hwy MPG is bad, like 15-16 MPG bad.. Whereas the 6.4 seems to overdeliver on the highway as is typical of large V8 engines. But the acceleration figures of the new Ram are going to be insanity.
I6 beats the hell out of V6 so it could be worse I guess.

I love the styling.
The last rental Wagoneer I got had the SO Hurricane and it got 20mpg on the highway, which was exactly what the EPA figures called for. I can see how you'd get under that though in a hilly environment though, I was just in FL with 4 people in the car.

I think the HO is gonna be the one to drive, should give mid 4 sec 0-60 and that's really good for a truck. Combine that with the usual ram suspension and air shocks and you have a class leader for sure, it's so cool to see ram doing well like this! Once tunes start coming out and aftermarket support gets good in certain we will be seeing many 1000hp trucks rolling around since this is an amazing platform for it.
Now it's just the usual dice risk of if a particular truck is good or not lol!

Im glad i got my 2019 Ram Limited back then for $53k OTD, the prices now are ridiculous
I would lovvvvvvve to get a SO and compare it to the GM 6.2 bc the power numbers are virtually identical. I loved that Ecoboost F150, I just found out it has 500lb/ft which is significantly more than Denali which aligned with my observation of it having more low end grunt once the turbos kicked in. They’re just about the same, acceleration wise. Too close to really pick one.
Throw a super kit on top, engine replacement on these only takes about 5.5 hours though. These and the V8 cars are insanely easy to work on and I have many personal best times on them, transmissions on the cars only call for 2.7 hours and my record in/out is 1.1 hours. Same deal with the GM trucks and V8s, it's the fords that are hellishly more complex and eat up a lot of time.
