Default The Porsche Macan EV Thread

https://www.motor1.com/news/705532/p...sign-sketches/

Porsche shows the Macan EV in revealing design sketchesIt's safe to say that Porsche has never generated this much hype around a new product. Finally debuting on January 25, the next-generation Macan is being teased one last time in surprisingly revealing images. The design sketches complement the official photos fully showing the interior that were released at the end of last year.

Don't let the evolutionary styling trick you into believing the new Macan is related to the gas model. It sits on a different platform developed from day one exclusively for EVs. From the details released thus far by Porsche, the top version is going to have over 600 horsepower and 738 pound-feet (1,000 Newton-meters) from a dual-motor setup. The juice is going to be provided by a large 100.0-kilowatt-hour battery that can handle 270-kilowatt charging.

Porsche describes the 2025 Macan as a sporty crossover with a "striking design" and equipped with all-wheel steering. It'll be offered with a rear electronic locking differential and a sophisticated air suspension with two-valve dampers. Following its debut on Wednesday, it's slated to go on sale later this year when Audi will launch its equivalent model, the Q6 E-Tron.

While an official announcement has yet to be made, the Macan EV is widely believed to supersede the gasoline version in the European Union. Porsche apparently won't be allowed to sell the current crossover for much longer in EU countries because of forthcoming cybersecurity regulations.
I have to say I'm really looking forward to this cars debut!

Looks really good. Any rumors on price? I would hope starting at 60k but I feel like it's going to be 70k+.

I think you're living in a fantasy world. Estimates are, the base will be $80k+

Damn lol. Was hoping it wouldn't be far off the base price of their gas model. For that price for the base model I would rather get an x3M.

Apples to oranges comparison, but I'd take the X3M too lol.

Edmunds did the highway range test on the Macan EV. Pretty impressive so far. As with any Porsche, getting an allocation will be a challenge. I think more info, including pricing and build configurator will be online in a few days on Porsche site.

Yeah super impressive from what little they were able to share with us so far.

I'm not sure the allocation thing is an issue for all Porsche models. I thought it was limited to most versions of the 911, and GTS and up variants of the 718. I know when I was looking in the fall of 2022, I could have pretty easily gotten an allocation for a 718 base or S model, but a GTS was a ~2 year wait and a GT4/Spyder was impossible.

For the current Macan, my local dealer has 48 of the current model listed as in stock (new), and 28 of those listings have pictures taken in their facility, so definitely shouldn't be the "in transit but already sold" that we often see; plus this dealer is usually pretty good about taking those down anyway, so I expect at least most of those other 20 are available as well. Obviously with the Macan EV being an all-new model it might be tricky right at launch, but I would expect it won't be too bad overall.

@Hameed Porsche is pretty good at rolling out the configurator once the vehicle is officially confirmed. I think they're planning to release more info tomorrow (1/25). It's just a matter of time the configurator is online.

@geko29 You're right. ICE Macan and Cayenne (especially base models) are easy to get, if you don't want to customize the car. Time will tell how feasible it is to get a Macan EV. I think it's possible to get a base trim at MSRP, but the higher trim (turbo or whatever Porsche wants to name it) might be a bit of a challenge or the dealers might do ADM. I'm hoping to get a configurable allocation.

Yup seems pretty easy to get an ICE Macan these days. A good friend of mine just got a loaded GTS that just came in to the dealership, no wait. He loves it so far.

Starts at $80K WLTP range of 310, but based off pre-production tests it'll likely outperform EPA ratings like the Taycan

Porsche is building two versions of the vehicle: the Macan 4 and Macan Turbo, both of which sport dual motors for all-wheel drive. The Macan 4 will churn out 300kW, or 402 horsepower, and 479 lb-ft of torque, sprint from zero to 60mph in 4.9 seconds, and achieve a top track speed of 136mph. The Macan Turbo will produce 470kW, or 630 horsepower, and 833 lb-ft of torque, hit 60mph from a standstill in just 3.1 seconds, and achieve a top track speed of 161mph.

so this is a broader question than for this macan, but it seems like every manufacturer (mercedes, bmw, porsche, ford, etc) make ev's that meet or exceed their WLTP and even EPA estimates, EVEN on the highway. that is, every manufacturer OTHER than tesla.
no one believes tesla range numbers. i think it hurts their credibility.
