Default Pilot vs Regular Production Vehicle

As a Lexus RC 350 F-Sport owner, great car and a long term keeper, here's a question that I posted on the RAM truck forum. Wanted to get completely different input. Test drove a CPO RAM 2022 1500 GT yesterday with only 1200 miles on it at my local RAM dealer. However, dealer could not provide a window sticker but did give me a build sheet. So going through that in detail come to find out it was a PILOT vehicle. Evidently one of the first RAM 1500 GT's built in 2022 (basically a baby TRX). Would buying a "PILOT" vehicle give you cause for concern or not? Thanks

Like a "pre-production" model? Yes, absolutely. I would not want one of those.

I did ask the dealer this morning for their response now that I pointed out to them it was a PILOT vehicle. Response was it was a show truck or on display. Moving on to looking at a 2023 Tundra Platinum CPO at a Toyota dealer and forgetting the GT RAM.

Yeah, if that's true I'd pass.

But, maybe some bragging rights only because it's special made, maybe.

Not sure how resale on it will be.

Very abnormal for a pre-production video to be made for sale, industry standard practice is to send them to the crusher once they've fulfilled their purpose.

A good website to check out prior to your Tundra purchase.

never heard of it being called a 'pilot' vehicle but yea that's the last thing i'd want lol

i don't even want the first production model year of a new car let alone a pre-production... FCA/stellantis cars typically aren't even sorted by the end of their production run lmao so this sounds like the perfect storm for a disaster
