My brother’s 08 Odyssey that is his work van had this. He did an override to disable cylinder deactivation. A lot of Odyssey owners do that because it seems to malfunction when the vehicle gets a bit older.
Normally the VCM bank develops oil control ring issues, I've done decarbon work in about 10 of them and VCM deletes after so they won't have the issue again.
Lol, yeah you gotta know how paranoid your fuel gauge/DTE is. On our old RX350, there were about 2 gallons left when it hit 0 miles remaining, so you could be pretty lax about finding a station. On my E46 which we owned at the same time, one mile after zero it would read "--" and at that point you pretty much have what's already inside the fuel pump. I once put in 16.4 gallons. Tank capacity is 16.2. I never took risks with that car's DTE again.
I've noticed that as well with my German stuff, zero really means zero not 2-4 left like in my other cars
oh it's coming, for sure. if the tech even limited speed to 20% over i'd be fine with it. just the other day a local rich kid (17) drove 120mph down a 2 lane city street in parents mercedes suv while blind drunk (1.8), smashed into a miata coming the other way driven by a young couple coming back from vacation. the couple both died. they found 'pieces' of the guy all over and the woman was burned to nothing. of course kid survived but he's up for vehicular manslaughter. rich parents of course are fighting it all the way so precious' future isn't spoiled. of course the kid's named ends in "iii" (the third).
My solution is to execute the drunk driver.
I thought you were done with Honda because of the air-conditioning?
I don’t care for how Honda is dealing with the a/c issues at all. They fixed my issues. My parents have a 2016 Civic Touring sedan and Honda did the compressor seal on their car and replaced the condense which is the same service they performed on my 2019 Sport Touring, but determined that the evaporator in their car is also leaking. They quoted $2100 for the evaporator because you have to rip the dash out to do the job and it’s not covered by warranty. That’s my future, so I have little interest in still owning this car in 3 years when my evaporator fails and it’s not a warranty issue.
There is the whole equation that I leased this car in December 2019 and expected it to be a bit of a placeholder, but Covid and the number 19 hit and everything went crazy in terms of used car values and inventory. My lease was based on $24k because it was a 19 on the lot in December and they wanted it gone.
So end of lease hits in December 2022 and I kicked the can down the road and extended it 6 months. At the end of that, the payoff was $14k and my employer pays bonuses even to a technical writer so I sent them a check and it’s mine. Apparently, it’s still worth $20k to CarMax. I lied and said there are no mods, but I can switch the wheels. Not sure if I would bother removing the RSR down springs.
I am reluctant to go Honda or Acura again. They are doing a **** poor job of handling the a/c issues.
Coworker drives a Sierra Denali told another coworker with a Sierra “you would be a fool to not have an extended warranty because 💩 is going to break. I use my warranty a lot.”
4WD
catalytic converter replacement
radio
differential
Some of the repairs he’s made so far under 70k miles while under warranty.
I love it!! It’s ok to live dangerous sometimes. 🤣
Want to have fun rowing gears and have the option to mod if you get bored, Type S. Don't plan modding and want a smooth sounding V8, IS.
I do this on every vehicle on every tank. Reset trip A at fill ups and reset trip B when the gas light flashes/DTE reads zero. Only the track car I have to keep it above half tank from fuel sloshing around and the gauge not always reading accurately when on track.
Feels like IS500. Thank you for your reply. Given my driving habits and requirements, it’s good. My employer has gas stations near my house and right next to the German club where I go a lot.
Also, thanks Stryker for your reply on the Ody V6 cylinder deactivation thing. It’s great to have you as a technician contributing.

I think EVs as a whole are pretty much done. Rich people will always buy expensive Teslas but there never was an EV craze despite what the TV said, and now finally the MSM is leaving us alone and not mentioning them. I don't think sales will ever get much higher than the last year or so for BEVs.
Well I was at the Porsche dealer tonight to finalize my Cayenne order and added two more options before the supposed order freeze date which was supposed to be 7/9 but the internal system said it was 7/1 so it may not go through but hopefully it does. Not deal breakers but I added the upgraded Club leather option and Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) which has active sway bars which is probably similar to the Dynamic Handling Package in my X7. I will be annoyed if it doesn't go through because I was told a specific date for the freeze and it would have been nice to know that it changed.
My wife and I looked at the red interior again and it was a tough choice but she ultimately chose black but we were on the fence on that. It would have been cheaper since they don't offer the red interior in Club leather but she felt red interior should be more for a sports car than an SUV. Her car, her choice and nothing wrong with black interior. I wanted red stitching but she didn't want that either so it save me $3,800 there but it would've looked nice.
Anyway, here is my final build (I hope unless the changes I made tonight didn't go through). And yes I understand this SUV is totally not worth it and is stupid but you only live once and life's too short anyway.
Lol, no they're not. Maybe distant, distant future.
Yes, they are. So much has been invested in EVs and more and more countries and cities are going to severely restrict the purchase and use of ICE vehicles. Steadily more and more people will choose EVs when they go to buy, the percentage of EVs on the roads will steadily rise.
In other news. I ran out this evening to check on a house that is going to closing tomorrow, and since my S580 is in having the PPF and tinting done I drove the Pacifica over my Rogue rental. Rolled over 10k miles
Been totally satisfied with the van. It continues to be such a huge upgrade from the gas Pacificas we had it’s not even funny. Comfortable, enjoyable to drive, swallows lots of stuff, it’s not hideous, really satisfied with it. Hard to believe we have had it almost 10 months…
Mileage will probably slow down some as I will be driving my S580 all the time for a while, I was driving the Pacifica pretty much exclusively on the weekends. When either of us runs out for a quick errand we always take the Pacifica because it doesn’t use any gas…
