I should have done more homework. My folks got a new Accord in 1994 and it was a pretty flawless car. They got a 2003 and hung on to the 1994 until 2012. They would still have the 2003 except it got totaled in 2013. There was a 2014 Accord which I liked and they turned it in off of the lease because it was hit by a distracted teen driver. I wouldn’t keep a repaired car after lease either. Especially in the context of cars that were very good cars, their Civic and mine are disappointments. When the evaporator fails in mine, the car is gone. No rush because I have 29K miles on a 4 plus year old car, but I am not driving a DD with no air conditioning.

Yeah it's sad since otherwise Hondas drive more "fun" than Toyotas do, I like some their cars as well but the spotty reliability would annoy me and if I have an appliance tier car I want something I never have to touch or is stupid easy to work on/cheap.
Can't beat domestics for cheap to own. It's why my stupid Jeep is still here.....parts costs are 2-3x as high on Honda/Toyota and they also don't have quite as many abilities so that why I've never owned one.

My 2000 Accord V6 was on its 3rd transmission before I got rid of it for the IS. First one just started slipping before it just died. Second one was shortly after they replaced the first one. I was at college so my mom picked it up for me and apparently they didn't make fill it with enough transmission fluid so once it got to my mom's house it completely seized. At least that was what the dealer told us. They replaced it properly when they put the third one in
Finally got botth vehicles washed in the same week, decided to take some pictures. Ignore the messy yard, I'm still planning what to do with it and I've been busy with tax season.

Wasn’t there a recall on Honda transmissions on year models 1998-2001? Couple family members including myself had our Honda transmission replaced (3 Hondas, 1 Acura). Mine was a manual and it went out while turning on a street in neighborhood. Didn’t complete the turn. Luckily house was on the corner so pushed it in the driveway.

Yeah I think there was, they have had a surprising amount of issues with the manuals relative to how manuals almost never have problems.
I don't really remember Honda A/C being very good.
I had a TL, that 2006. I haaaated it because the vent, LITERALLY, on high speed would be about 1/2 what any other car would put out. The window tint helped, but that was just unacceptable. Terrible A/c and max fan speed.
I will say, our first gen TSX is one of the favorite cars I've owned. There is some nostalgia involved (our first joint purchase together, our first fairly premium car, brought our first born home from the hospital in it), but it really was a joy regardless. The engine was great, interior had plenty of room, and it was quite fun to drive. As the years went on, it did develop lots of interior rattles, and things started failing, like the alternator, door lock actuators, etc. but overall it was a great ownership experience. They, too, have transmission failures but we sold it at 106k miles and it was still running and driving solid.
Why don't manufacturers offer cars of this size that still crash well but instead of trying to have an almost useless 2nd row (driver can only sit so far forward) couldn't the instead offer a version with a much larger cargo area? Other thing that came to mind is a sideways seat so that you can have 3 people with the rear person behind the front passenger. Make said seat fold away as well to maximize rear cargo too, I think that would be more useful of a small car.
I also think something like this should be max practical within the confines of the target size so why attempt to have it conform to conventional expectations?
