EV fobs from right to left: Polestar Activity key, Ioniq 5 fob, Chevy Bolt fob, and Tesla backup card key
Tesla smart phone key
Polestar also can use your phone as a key:
Polestars phone as a key still needs more work, as many times you have refresh the app and get it to connect to the car before it works. Tesla's phone as a key works very seamlessly, every now and then you have to launch the app after it's been updated
Tesla fob looks cool. Does it have any other functions or just lock/unlock? How does Smart Phone work for you? My friend has to carry his card key because he says sometimes the phone doesn't work when he approaches the car. MB's looks nice and clean but they need to have a card key and Smart Phone key. Hyundai needs some serious work. What does those buttons with P letter and arrow do, bit?

The Tesla fob does lock, unlock, trunk, and frunk + proximity detection like any other car fob.
We've never had to use the card or fob, we only use the phone. It works perfectly almost all of the time. I would say in 18 months, it's only ever failed on me less than 5 times. 4 of the 5 times, all I had to do was pull out my phone and open the app and then it "woke up" and let me in. Just once I had to open the app, actually press unlock and then the car still wouldn't "start" and let me drive it. I had to remote start it from the app. But like i said, that was once.
All in all, the phone key has worked really well for us, almost perfect. I actually have issues with how Tesla handles multiple driver profiles that link with each phone. If my partner and I are both in the car it incorrectly chooses the wrong profile all the time and constantly switches us into the incorrect one. It's very frustrating because there is a very large height difference between us, so it often starts shoving me up and forward into the ceiling and steering wheel. It's pretty annoying.
They also have forgotten to program some logic into this feature. For example, in my opinion, it should only try to switch profiles upon entering the car from the exterior handle. But if you press the button to exit the car and open the door from the inside, this also triggers a profile switch. So I'll open the door and I have to jump out of the car before I start getting smashed into the ceiling and steering wheel.
It feels to me like it chooses the wrong profile more often than it doesn't.
The MB key is pretty nice, feels heavy and solid and the metal is cold and real. But they're definitely missing a phone key option. It would be nice to have the option of not having to use the fob.

Have you tried setting up your profile as the primary? My wife and I have the same issue, where if I'm not careful it will try and crush me against the steering wheel. I've learned to look at it before hitting the brake pedal. If it's not correct, I chose it manually. We also have my wife's set to easy exit, so I can get in. Early on, it was impossible for me to even get in on the driver's side if it was left on her position.

You can choose which profile is default, which I have mine set. My wife always has to select her profile on the screen. But occasionally it will switch to another profile if I'm sitting in the driver's seat and my daughter walks past the car, but then I just quickly select my profile again. Personally I think everyone should have to select their profiles manually, it's easy enough and takes a few seconds

LoL my wife also sits very close to the steering wheel and raises the seat all the way up. I could actually be killed if my wife's profile was set while I'm sitting in the driver seat

Yes tried that I appreciate the tip about looking at whose profile is selected before pressing the brake pedal. I'll try that

It really is so quick and easy to do manuallly. That's not an option is it? To turn off the auto profie switching?
3 non PAAK options on the Rivian. All trucks come with the key card and carbineer-ish key fob. Activity band key came with my Launch Edition which was a nice little add

I really like how BMW does it. You hit the profile picture if you want to change the default profile and put in the associated PIN. Since we're on profile and tesla doesn't have seat memory buttons, if you move the seat around, how do you get back to your defaulted position?

Yes, that is correct. The seat position is stored in the user profile. So is the steering wheel position, side mirrors, and the AC vents settings. As soon as you open the door, it detects which phone is being used and automatically sets the profile. You can also change which profile you want to use in the screen.
BTW your profile can be carried over to another Tesla if you are added as a driver
